Exactly, I think I paid $40 for an entire year. I’m all for supporting somebody small trying to give us something to enhance this sim.
I’m enjoying OnAir… but was reluctant to subscribe after my trial. I did, in hopes that the devs will keep working to improve it, and like some others have said above, I like supporting the little guy.
In regards to how it works with MSFS, has anyone had the issue of resuming a flight after a game crash using the slew method? It seems to 1/2 work, and 1/2 totally screw up the sim. It places me just fine where I left off, but usually, with the wrong heading, no nav info, and the controls and autopilot are janky and as far as the autopilot is concerned it rarely works at all after respawning.
And OnAir is nice… but I’m hoping we get some polish on it. The interface is slow and clunky with not enough information available when you want it (give me lots of clocks, my current balance on every screen etc, I shouldn’t have to go to a page just for those items), waypoints, and importing flight plans would be great, and of course, the functionality of the slew mode to continue a flight (especially considering that we are dealing with a new game with lots and lots of bugs (for now))
I hope everyone is enjoying it all just as much as I am, regardless of the lack of polish

My only real issue with it is once you get to the Level 5 mission you’re forced to go on some massive tour which just isn’t practical with a Cessna. Seems that no matter how many times you regenerate you get no other option. Other than that, i’m enjoying it.
I rented Cessna Caravan, and now have license for that.
Remember, you don’t have to fly all routes yourself.
Gotta do those side missions!
Yeah I know you don’t have to fly all routes, but it still makes you fly some. And doing a 1950km trip in the Caravan just wasn’t what i expected. Seems I have no choice though.
You’ll see new interesting places too
Have fun flying!
Trust me, i’m not complaining. And it will be fun working out stopovers along the way!
I just wanted to post this from the On-Air discord. Hopefully this puts an end to the guerilla marketing accusations.
“It’s come to our attention that people have been posting repeated messages in Facebook groups and forums promoting the OnAir Company application. Although this is certainly flattering, we want to make it absolutely clear that we are not the ones sending these messages, nor have we enlisted the help of third parties to send these messages. We do not, and have never, encouraged spamming the web with promotions for OnAir Company. If you want to let others know about OnAir Company please do so, but please respect the guidelines set out by the operators of the groups or forums before doing so.”
Well I dunno …
Tried the demo of OnAir… Before, I was traveling the globe, seeing the wonderful sights from my slick little jet; now I’m in a C172, shipping newspapers in Northern Ireland in the dark and in the rain!
Nice program - very slick presentation once you get the hang of it and a surprising amount of subtlety once you get into it. I’ve taken a 1 year subscription
And no, i have no affiliation etc. etc. etc.
Onair carried out maintenance on the servers at 7:00am this morning…servers have been acting up ALL DAY. When I asked about this in the Discord Channel, I was met with sarcasm from the Community Staff and then a bunch of excuses. I’m now looking at getting Paypal to refund my subscription and cancelling it.
Yes, having fun carrying out deliveries around Ireland myself ( took a one year sub also ) . The C172 can just about take off and land from some of these small grass runways !!
To be fair the community staff as you call them have absolutely nothing to do with OnAir, they are just customers that have had a roll assigned. If you have any issues with them report them directly to Antoine via the forum, he needs to know about idiots like this.
Having been a long-time user of FSE (on and off since 2015 and happy to prove this to any doubters) I have now switched to OnAir, I just want to add my two cents, I am surprised this hasn’t been mentioned before (apologies if it has and I missed it).
FSE is a grind. Their motto is “don’t chase the money”, which is fine if all you ever aspire to is flying a GA single or twin piston. If you want anything more substantial, be prepared for the grind. And you can forget about owning an airliner - occasionally an ‘all-in’ job will appear for the A320 which will give you a break from grinding in your 172, but in terms of earnings/hour, it’s about the same as flying a 172. A King Air is around $1.5m and a good job in a Baron 58 will net you $4k (and that’s if you own the B58, lose a chunk of that if you’re renting, and even more if you take the aircraft away from it’s home base). So that’s in the region of 400 good trips to earn the capital required for a small twin TP. Maybe more like 550/600 with bad/no jobs, ownership fees and maintenance. I am not suggesting for a moment that this is unrealistic, far from it in fact - but it’s not a ‘game’ or something I personally would consider enjoyable either. If you only ever want to fly a 172 or the idea of spending a whole $2.50 per month for some software repulses you so, then FSE is the one for you and I wish you well. (I am trying to remain objective here, but comments about the attitude of some FSE-ers is completely true and is clear to see in this thread)
Whilst I understand OnAir can give you the same experience, the ‘Cumulus’ server on which I am currently playing is geared towards the Airline Tycoon style of gameplay, evidenced by the fact I have only been playing a week and a half and already ‘own’ 2 King Airs and a Cessna Longitude. I have an FBO (EGCN if any other players want to stop by ) and 2 AI pilots who earn money for the company in the King Airs while I fly the Cessna. And even all of that is without any of the leg-ups available such as 200% payments, time acceleration etc. I would have to lock myself in a room and play FSE 24/7 for two years to get anywhere near that level of progress. And what’s more, this is only the start. I could keep going until I own a fleet of 747s if I really wanted to.
In conclusion, if you want to simulate an economy and a “one-man-band” career, then FSE is the one for you. If you want to manage an airline then you should go for OnAir Airline Manager. The clues are in the names
I’m on the Stratus server in On Air. It’s more grindy than Cumulus but I’m fine with that. Essentially you start with less money, less reputation and no free C172.
After doing a bunch of <50 NM deliveries around SE UK I’m now going further afield with a rented C208 going from EGLF down to central france, then up to Scandinavia. I should get about £20k for that after expenses. Then I’ll probably buy a c172, hire an AI pilot to fly it for some extra income, and then rent a TBM to use for my level 5 mission which is an 8 leg European Tour.
Once that’s done It’ll be time to look into setting up homebase FBO at EGLF.
You can’t hire AI pilots on the stratus server
Yes you can. Thunder is a world without AI-pilots.
Yes you can. It’s the 3rd server that is no AI.
Is it echoing here…?
4k per trip LOL
I made up up 4 million in one month, until I had so much that I don’t need to earn money anymore.
Maybe you should start looking at different angles, take more risks and rent something bigger than a King Air or a Baron. Also you can use more than 1 plane that collect cargo and interchange at certain airports.
