Only a few would have noticed

Notice how the latest feedback snapshot wish-list DOES NOT include SEASONS.

See, when there so many basic omissions, how very important basics get eliminated off the radar. Also, when patches ruin basic functionality, it may take years for seasons to be even thought of.

Tons of talk about the future, but…I’m still not impressed, because talk does not impress me.

For those who are impressed with talk, I’m happy for you. :joy:

Yeah let’s prioritize seasons over critical bug fixes and better communication with freeware devs what could possibly go wrong

Seasons can wait. Let’s get a stable sim first.

I would rather they spend their engineering efforts fixing the things that are already in the game, instead of adding new things.

If the team that was doing this was not busy doing anything else, that would be different, but I’m reasonably certain they don’t have a team dedicated to seasons.

Oh yeah, now seasons are parts of the “basics.”

The more this sim improves, the more crybabies become shrill and hilarious in their attempts to sour the conversation.

We’re getting scenery that would normally cost $100-150 (conservative estimate) in a free update, but let’s whine about seasons! :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

true points… let’s also be fair and hope that the new photogrammetry doesn’t look as terrible as it does now… it’s all good when it works, but when does it work frequently?

i.e. downtown NYC last night

I’d like to point out to some posters that in other posts today, they’ve been espousing a viewpoint that multiple fixes and improvements to the game can occur concurrently. And now, in this thread, they are stating the exact opposite.

I agree with the OP. Seasons should be implemented immediately because it is immersion breaking. Honestly, this should have already been in place before the game was released as it is a core feature.

they mentioned the workaround for poor Photogrammetry is clean cache

Perhaps the issue here may be:

  1. They’ve updated the quality at their end, and this is an issue where the cache is not updated.
  2. The user changes the quality in the client, and the cached data is used, rather than the better quality streamed data

Clearing it out, and starting over would likely fix either issue.

and I’ve personally cleaned my cache several times and it still occurs.

And all of this ignores the fact that the user shouldn’t have to clear the cache or do anything else for that matter to get the best possible experience.

Just for sake of argument, your Internet connection was not fast enough to download the best quality imagery, have you tried creating a manual cache, at the highest quality level, for one of the areas where you have seen the issue?

Manual cache is different to the rolling cache, and this would eliminate two things: cache, and Internet speed.

true, when they mentioned it its only to do a quick fix for now until they get to it for further permanent fix. This way no one has to wait if they have such issues

I couldn’t care less about seasons.

“Have you tried to create a manual cache?”

Ahem.

If you had actually watched the last pre-launch video where they talked about all things MSFS you’d know Seasons have been a requested feature forever, the devs know that, want to add them, but it’s going to take ages since seasons have a lot of effects.

So they took the approach of just limiting it to snow for now and they’ll work on the seasons after the game is launched and fleshed out.

i guess seasons matter depending on where you fly… if you fly where there’s basically summer year round, you likely don’t care. i fly canada… so seasons are important… right now, with the fall colours… seasons would be awesome and i expected to land on frozen water in the winter

to be honest i just assumed it would be in the game since fsx had them.

That’s only a snapshot of what people are clamoring about at that moment and NOT what they’re actually working on or considering for the sim. Seasons falling out of the top after a bunch of bugs came up is not going to have an impact on whether or not they add them or not.

How are the seasons going to work in the current state? Perpetual summer everywhere, but where it’s cold it’ll show snow? Will snow be persistent from previous storms? Or will it be like in FSX and if it’s north it’s pretty much always snow covered? Shame there is no fall in the game, but there is always next fall i suppose. I’ve been doing flight sims for years what’s another year. Certainly not a high priority.

Out of curiosity, how do you clean out your cache?
