OpenXR Toolkit (upscaling, world scale, hand tracking...) - Release thread

Not sure if this helps any, but my FPS dropped from 45 → 23 after installing 1.1.2. Motion Reprojection was never enabled in OpenXR Tools. I have no issues with Companion app Menus. OpenXR Tools for WMR settings Use latest preview “on” + Custom Render Scale 100%. I uninstalled 1.1.2, performed “Reset Settings” in OpenXR Tools, then reinstalled 1.1.0. FPS returned to 45. Uninstalled 1.1.0, performed “Reset Settings”, then installed 1.1.2 again. Frame drop by 50% again. Very reproducible. System is i7-10700KF, 32 GB, 3080 Ti, Reverb G2. Win-11.

im getting the same , delay on head movment , in the mirror look perfectly fine , delay happen only in the headset , any idea ? only happen with last version

I have HAGS off, I switched off too Game mode and I watched a noticeable improve in smoothness, I think causality and it was for other reasons?.

I figured out what was causing mine: DirectX 12. In my case, if the fs2020 has dx12 on setting active, my headset will have this horrible head movement lag, despite having good fps. Moving it back to DX11 solved the problem.

Here are my screenshots of 1.1.0 and 1.1.2 with overlays and what my settings are for both versions took these at night so they show up better sorry cant get the open xr overlay any bigger hopefully this helps with the fps problem with 1.12

My computer is i9 11900k 32 gb with a RTX3060 with reverb g2 headset

your program is awesome is the game changer for my vr experience and only continues to get better.

I did the FPS test with the following results:
1.1.0 WMR Overlay - 42.5 FPS
1.1.0 OpenXR Toolkit Overlay - 43.0 FPS
1.1.2 WMR Overlay - 19.37 FPS
1.1.2 OpenXR Toolkit Overlay - 20.0 FPS

I was in the same aircraft idling on the same runway for all measurements.

Thank you, this is precisely what I was looking for!

I don’t have such a drop in fps when using my REVERB G2 version 2.
I’ve done my usual test on Paris CDG - UTC 12:00 - clear skies : around 45 fps (standard)
I don’t use Motion Reprojection.

@mbucchia Hi. Just wanted to let you know, i personally don’t have any problems with the latest update, even though i also use WMR. And i do use MR.

I was given a hint of HAGS on vs off for the performance issue. I am still away from home, but i figure maybe someone with/without the issue on WMR could toggle HAGS on/off and see if this is indeed causing it?

I see the problem now also, toggle VR off/on repairs the view. AMD 6800XT, no HAGS with AMD

with hags ON my performance suffers a dramatic blow, but this has been the case since forever.

I just took the plunge on the new version and only found one anomaly possibly with the toolkit menu. Once exiting the toolkit menu, the area of image usually covered by the menu becomes warped when panning (I think there may be some lag limited to this area). This only goes away when you exit VR and enter VR again.
I’m not experiencing any general drop in frames, but then I’ve always run with HAGS off, Game mode off and MR off. I’m using FSR.

Still loving your work! :+1:

I experience the same “bubble” issue with 1.1.2 version.
In details: when I activate the FPS counter all works fine.
Then, if I disactive it, I get the bubble effect.
BUT, if I re-activate the FPS counter, everything works fine again.
I hope this may help.
Thanks for all your great job Matthieu!

For me the wobble area where the menu was, still remain with HAGS on or off.

Thank you all, there are 2 issues, lets address separately:

  • artifacts after menu closes: I have no idea and I cant do anything until I come back from vacation
  • frame rate drop: few users confirmed that it was due to HAGS on, so please if you experienced this issue turn HAGS off

Enjoy your vacation! The wobble has control+tab workaround. The FPS problems might just be changes in configurations etc.

I can confirm that turning HAGS off does “mostly” resolve the large drop in FPS with 1.1.2 Toolkit Companion. However, my FPS do not return to previous levels. I was getting on average 43-45 FPS in 1.1.0 with HAGS on and now I get 38-40 FPS in 1.1.2 with HAGS off. Hope this info helps.

Try to switching off Game mode too and:

Delete the Content.xml file for a Sim rebuilt in C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

delete everything inside the sceneryindexes folder.

under Advanced Graphics Settings remove → FlightSimulator.exe from the list

right click C: → Properties → Disk Cleanup → delete DirectX Shader Cache

Maybe delete too the folders of the third part plane you are flying and you have in the community folder, in C:\Users"yourusername"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes and maybe too in C:\Users"yourusername"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\packages

I’ve followed the few instructions to make this work, bit I get the same error in every game, something OVR 3001 or something, can’t remember now.
Would you mind explaining how to get it to work for a G2?
Thanks in advance.
