Yet in their last stream they said they will revamp the clouds and add more types only if it is high enough on the wishlist. Which is it then? You can’t have it both ways
Because of this post, last night I decided to try adding in fs2020 post processing section of the user.opt file into 2024 for both the graphics section, and graphicsvr. In my case for the film grain. It’s so bad, and with poor antialiasing it looks terrible in VR. So adding that post processing section and disabling, flare, film grain, dirt, made such a huge difference and really sharpened up my image quality. I have bad eyes, and still saw a difference. I removed the lens flare, but kept the bloom also.
Would you mind sharing the edits you made? I tried adding this to the bottom of the {Graphics} section of my usercfg.opt (below the last entry which was {GlassCockpitRefreshRate} and it didn’t remove the lens flare at all…

Isn’t it funny that simply wishing to restore a checkbox from the previous version is a “wishlist” item? I just have to shake my head sometimes at the choices Asobo makes.
Yes, I agree with you. This kind of decision can’t just be a whim of the developers. I’d like to think there must be some technical reason that the rest of us are missing, so it would be nice if someone on the team could explain why this feature was removed. Otherwise, it’s incomprehensible.
Due to the time been, did you fix the Lens Flare and Bloom for msfs2024?
Any news on this yet?
This Bloom effect is actually ruining my night flying.
I’m starting to regreat deleting 2020.
Why is this a wishlist item and not a bug? The option was there in FS2020, it is a regression…
Totaly agree, The bloom is way overdone.
I would like to bring this up again, it’s a real showstopper for me. Can only stick to FS2020 or X-Plane.
Dear developper: if you perceive you environment like this, you should not be at the controls of any airplane. Or take off your fogged glasses and clean them…
Remove lens flare… What were the devs thinking adding this? At least give an option to disable it.
It’s ridiculous.
Why doesn’t this topic even have a “feedback-logged” flag? this is so disappointing.
The less options the better. Developer options are generally a substitute for just making a sensible decision, and pander to those with too much time on their hands to play with all the options. For this discussion… Lens flare… just turn it off. It was always a gimmick. Nobody wants it on their pictures, we didn’t want in all of JJ Abrams films, and certainly don’t want it in a sim…. cockit or external. In realy life it is an occasional, unwanted artifact. Just remove it!
For bloom… that one is tricky. Our monitors and VR headsets don’t kick out enough light, and are orders of magnitude of dynamic range away from real light bloom, so it has to be simulated. The problem is our eyes are all different. When I drive at night and a car is coming towards me, I see 2 clearly distinct headlights. My wife (who had laser eye surgury) sees one huge blob of light. We all perceive bloom to vastly different degrees, and it is needed, because it simulates a greater dynamic lighting range. So this one, reluctantly, needs at least a high/med/low setting .

Exacly! Nobody has camera lens instead of eyes!
oh rly? care to explain the tag on these then?
Big L Asobo!
Got my vote on this. Tried a rare night flight the other day and the cockpit was horrendous. The bloom is far too much and needs a disabled option, which is pretty much a standard option on most games.
Why hasn’t this been done yet? Surely it’s incredibly simple to add an option to disable them, which doesn’t bode well for more complex issues.
