What is up with that altimeter? As you pointed out, it’s missing 160. At first I thought you just meant the next, but no, it literally goes 100, 120, 140, 180.
That would bother me even more than the Boeing 307’s extra 6.
Is there any instrument that tracks flight time such as the FI’s aircraft have in the tablet or GotFriends’ Wildcat has on the instrument panel?
Your point isn’t invalid, but personally, I couldn’t care less how the aircraft is on 2020 as I don’t intend to use it much anymore. 2024 is the future.
While this isn’t the place to discuss this something cannot be the future when its worse than what’s already here ie 2020 maybe in a year you could make that claim. i would rather a review on something that works, that has been working and that will continue to work.
I wonder if the airspeed indicator imagery doesn’t match the actual instrument movement – this would explain the 20-knot discrepancy between the indicator’s airspeed and the MSFS HUD.
Thank you so much for going through the trouble of the mirrored textures! The ex “Charlie’s Heavy” Avenger wore a very similar paintscheme for a short time =)
something being the future in my eyes has little to do with its current status and only with its FUTURE potential.
MSFS2020 effectively is dead due to older technology, add on developers already starting to bail on it and the high likelyhood Microsoft will soon stop developing it any further on its own. Therefore MSFS2024 is absolutely the (only) future.
They did prior to release but lots of devs have actually gone back to MSFS 2020 including ini with the A350 and CLI4D who’s last scenery was for both. PMDG are not in 2024 at the moment they are unable to work with 2024 even this avenger is for both devs understand the market base simply isn’t there to fund projects. It is also becoming apparent 2024’s pedigree is actually 2020 as its weird how many bugs identical to past and current 2020 bugs are there. even users have gone back to 2020 with far more playing the older version ( you can see that for yourself just using steam stats)
Yeah whatever. Your disdain for MSFS2024 is nothing new so no need for either of us to try and convince the other of anything.
Steam stats aren’t really helping since I would suggest there have been far more copies sold of MSFS 2020 than MSFS2024 and ini and PMDG are (almost) exclusive airliner devs and we all know that those suck in MSFS.
But it’s all beside the point since MSFS2020 still is on its deathbed since MS won’t put any more money into it. While devs produce addons that are compatible to both sims now (which is only good practise if it can be done without much extra effort) support for exclusive 2020 addons will dry up as well. Let’s talk about this again in 12 months …
MSFS 2024 is still very much a moving target.
I would not want to be a developer trying to keep up.
Given the amount of fuss about the missing crew in the Avenger (back on topic here), in the MSFS 2024 pre SU1 beta vesion, the pilot position was unstable, so both pilot and navigator were left out.
Then along comes SU1 beta one, version 1.3.7.0 and the pilot returns, but not the navigator, as the same time as the pilot only is restored to all the other addon aircraft that had neither.
Yesterday, we have SU1 beta 2 and now, if the MSFS 2020 version of the Avenger is loaded into MSFS 2024 beta 2, to be clear, version 1.3.10.0, both pilot and navigator are back and in their seats.
You are forgetting FSX: abandoned by MircoSoft for a long period, but supported by many freeware and payware developers. So, that might happen again if MSFS2024 remains unusable. People might decide to ignore MSFS2024 and use MSFS2020, while they wait for the next version like e.g. MSFS2028
completely different premise. At that time MS abandoned not FSX but the whole franchise and only sold the rights to further develop it when they thought they couldn’t make any money with it anymore.
As I said multiple times. MSFS2020 was a complete train wreck in the beginning. Worse than 2024. And for many people it is far from unusable. I haven’t touched MSFS2020 since the release, and am having almost no problems in GA flying. Sure there’s lots of stuff that needs adressing, but that will always be the case. MSFS will never be finished. So far for me: performance is better, stability is better, no stutters …
Just because there’s so much negativity surrounding the newer version doesn’t mean it’s universal, and let’s not forget: forums like this mulitply negativity because people come here to vent for more often that to sing their praises. Happy players only come here to check for news. It’s been like that for almost 5 years. Everytime a new update to MSFS2020 came out it was the same thing.
It will pass - and MS and Asobo know that and simply continue doing their thing, working on the wishlist items and ignoring the rest, because (I know many people won’t like it) most of what goes on in this forum is completely irrelevant because it’s either about personal tastes, emotions or repetition of stuff discussed a hundred times (like what we are currently doing highjacking this thread). That’s why I will now quit this discussion: I’m already angry at myself for letting myself being roped in but needed to get it out anyway
You actually started it. and you’re speaking from A GA flyer a sim is more than that
I have no disdain what would be the point ? i can just read what’s there, i see it as it is i don’t need to make any excuses. Anyway as i said earlier this isnt the place to discuss this
Except that Steam already accounts for fewer actual players, and Steam being the more “gamey” platform probably has players that abandon ship easier.
Personally, I have no identical bugs either - not sure where that is coming from. It’s clear to me the underlying engine is quite different and more efficient.
