I went to their website (orbxdirect.com) and clicked Support in the footer. Then there is a form with the choice of “Request a refund for a product”.
I noticed that Mamudesigns Power lines is available now on the 2020 marketplace. If I buy this, is it compatible with 2024, or is there a separate version coming for that?
I bought it from the Devs website, I’ll never buy anything from the Marketplace again due to the time it takes for them to approve updates.
I can tell you that it works perfectly in both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 and that includes his Marina & Project Lifts with are both incredible!
Thanks. Yeah, one of the downsides of being on Xbox is lack of choice in where to purchase.
Good to know it’s fine in '24 - hopefully the other packs follow soon.
Curiosity. Are the High Voltage power towers supposed to have red beacons at night. A test flight revealed that they are not equipped with beacons.
A second question, maybe coincidental but I noticed that, following installation, my low level flights are often interrupted by short duration ‘hesitations?’, 'stutters?" … Anyone else noticed this?
Hi
no, the towers are not equipped with beacons
i couldn’t find any data or specific country regulations about them
About performance, it really depends upon your location, system spec, the aircraft you are using, game settings, weather, speed. for sure the addon adds a ton of new objects in the game!
I have to say that I have tried it on my Xbox X in pretty busy areas with the Extra 300s because I love to slalom between the pylons and I was satisfied with the results
In the past I have a very small percentage of users moaning about perfomance (when it was free it had around 100k downloads), but couldn’t identify any specific pattern
the only places I have ever seen beacons in real life was when they actually posed a risk to aviation. I remember one airport I passed in a car but don’t remember where is was.
So im my experience it’s very rare
Thanks, for the quick reply! As I said, it could be coincidental.
Oh, by the way, FAA requires beacons on any structure 200 foot or above, or less if it might impose a hazard to low flying aircraft (i.e., near runways). Not a big deal, just noticed towers in the sim, about 1.5 miles from a local runway were not equipped with beacons active at night. I’ll have to check IRL to see if they are active. Thanks again, great product!
Mmm…so, as my post above, I bought Mamudesigns Powerlines tonight on Xbox Series X in FS2020, but purely to use in FS2024.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to even show up at all in the ‘my library’ section in 2024 - let alone as incompatible.
@mamuDesign Do you think this 2020 version will eventually work in 2024, perhaps via update - or should I request a refund?
I’m more than happy to wait if this version will eventually count as a purchase in 2024.
On pc, in 2024 it works out of the box (and better then 2020 because it take advantage from improved mass placement)
For compatibility, it is really a fairly lengthy process
- The first step is to have it in 2020 (because I truly want all users in all platforms enjoy the addon!). This step is complete
- Next, when Microsoft will give me the ability to do so, I can clear it for the porting process to 2024
- Next have to test streaming to 2024
If everything is ok, I can mark as compatible and approved by developer - eventually, after Microsoft confirm it, they will make it available in my library as ported content (this for my Project Lifts took about 45 days)
- finally Microsoft will make the addon available in the 2024 Marketplace (another 45 days)
The sad stuff about the timings is that Microsoft didn’t provide a timeline. Things just “happens”, without confirmation or notice to developers.
While I understand the amount of additional work they have with porting, a serious company like them should have planned beforehand an automated process or additional interim manpower. But we are devianting from main topic, the are already several Markeplace situation threads about
Just picked this up in 24MP for Xbox. Works well. Adds to the immersion. Great add-on!
Some scenery (such as FSDG’s Landmarks of Germany and France VFR’s region series) include power towers/lines. How do yours compare, and will your mod conflict with these?
Also, if I buy for 2020, do I get the 2024 version included?
Just want to check before I purchase…
Thanks.
Hi,
If you buy in 2020 Markeplace you will have it in 2024, and it will works flawlessly
(You can find already in 2024 Markeplace anyway)
About compatibility,
Of course you will have duplicates, from the screenshots I have seen from FSDG I didn’t notice any Powerline/towers ,
About France VFR, maybe they have a configurator? There seems to be so much stuff in there packages..Think they offer a different experience about PowerLINES
What if I buy from your own store?
Would the package reorder tool solve any conflicts?
From my store, Simmarket or Markeplace, the package is the same so they are gonna behave in the same way
The package reorder tool work only when exclusions are provided from the scenery creator, and for performance reason I haven’t added them (if France VFR dunno, but is very unlikely for the same reason)
In my Powerlines there is a .bgl for each country , so removing/renaming it with a different extension its content will not be displayed
I bet France VFR May have the same setup for each of its features (powerballs, boats or whatever they pulled from OSM)
Purchased but I don’t have the high pylons folder anywhere…
Here you go
(They are just an additional scenery and not needed for the base package to work)
I have the Mamu power lines installed and they are great. Only distraction is that the shadows of the lines themselves seem to pop in and out on the ground. Didn’t realize what they were at first.
I think this is a simple and unavoidable issue with LOD (so a sim limitation rather than a Mamu problem) — as you move away, the cables become so thin so as not to be visible — which in turn means their shadows also vanish. To maintain detail in such slender structures I would image is nigh on impossible.
