Oslo ENGM v2 ORBX vs Aerosoft

Hallo,

I own the Aerosoft version but i would like to know what you think or someone can compare the V2 version for Oslo by ORBX with Aerosoft.

Is Aerosoft still the best or is the new ORBX version the way to go!

Thanx!

I’ve got it, upgraded for free from v1 yesterday. I’m not sure if Aerosoft was the best. They both always had their own pros and cons.

If ENGM is anything like Orbx’s other 2024 native airports, it’s just a basic recompile using the new SDK. despite Aerosoft’s not being a native version, it’s by Jo Erlend Sund — one of the top three airport developers, in my (and most other people’s) opinion. Both he and Finn (the Orbx indie dev responsible for their ENGM) are Norwegian so you’d think the level of accuracy would be similar.

I tested it by myself, for me Aerosoft is a clear winner. I instant saw the approach on runway 01R, the train and roadway… Aerosoft version is way better then orbx which is very basic for me at that point in the scenery. I stick with Aerosoft!

I prefer Aerosoft’s ENGM over ORBX ENGM v2 too!

I don’t regret going the Orbx way with this airport - it’s pretty enough in my book. I’m happy they finally made the MSFS2024 version, I had not been at the airport (in the sim) for one year!

I have the Aerosoft version and moved to it as Orbx was taking too much time getting to 2024. That is a decision I do not regret, this one feels lot more lively although Orbx one was also very good (used it till I was on 2020)

I think users can be happy with either version, but there’s no doubt Jo Erlend Sund’s is superior (certainly in overall detail). I think if you had Orbx’s prior to Jo’s releasing, there’s likely not much point in swapping, unless you simply must have the absolute best version.

Orbx’s is more frequently (and usually better) discounted so price may be a factor for some.

Way before Jo’s ENGM came along, I recall looking at Orbx’s and thinking how nice it looked.
