It would help if Asobo coded in an ‘Override ATC’ option - probably easier than actually fixing all the bugs - that could be used, for example, when ATC is trying to descend you into terrain, is requesting you step down a thousand feet before it’ll let you keep climbing, won’t give you take off clearance, or gives you the wrong runway… It already had the option to ignore IFR only at airports. An option to ignore the last command, or choose own runway etc would be good.
It already exists. It’s called ignoring the atc
It’s just jarring to hear ‘please expedite your descent to FL180’ every 20s. It doesn’t even give me the option to cancel IFR and retry without removing the flight plan in the FMS.
This usually works for me. If you make some minor change to your flight plan then you should get an option in the ATC dialogue that says something like “Request new IFR flight plan based on instrument flight plan”. When you select that, it will go through the blah-blah-blah and reset your ATC plan, and usually this results in different instructions, corrected altitude, etc.
Try adding a waypoint somewhere in the middle and save, then delete that added waypoint and save.
Otherwise, yeah, I just ignore ATC.
