Paintkits for default aircraft (2024)

We need paintkits for the new default aircraft in 2024 since streaming is stopping people from accessing aircraft files to paint it that way. We have no liveries for any of the aircraft’s unless published by the developers themselves.

This is so important-there’s no community made liveries for the Saab 349 for example without a paintkit available.

Are there plans for Max liveries? It suck that there is only a bbj liverie for the Max!

It isn’t, you simply have to Change from BBJ to the PAX Version.
But Paintkits would be great.

Recently I asked in inibuilds’ discord about paintkit for A330 and they said it depends on MS/Asobo to decide whether a paintkit would be released or not. So I hope there will be official paintkits released for the default aircraft, not only the A330, but all default aircraft since third party paintkits can easily miss some elements like dirt and weathering above painted elements.

I’d like to see an official paintkit for the Saab 340 for example.

Also I’d add that not just a blank white base, but actual layered .PSDs, and an external LOD_0 model included for every plane.

We need one for the 737 max 8 I’m tired of flying United

And we need one for the heart es30

Yep, that’s what I mean by mentioning missing elements in third party paintkits. A layered PSD is much better than painting everything above the blank texture.

This should be a priority for Asobo/MS, honestly. Every time a new, decent third-party add-on was launched on MS2020, there were loads of community-made liveries available in no time. It feels like part of the sim is dead without these add-ons. The community shouldn’t be restricted to feedback here on forums. These liveries create engagement, and it is very disappointing to see that Asobo and Microsoft didn’t properly consider this situation.

100% this.

I 100% agree l. I was also looking a the new file structure scratching my head. Not sure why that are using this kts2 file. I have been trying to get inside some liveries that have been published but have not had much luck converting them into something i can use. I hope 3rd party paint kits are straight forward to use as well. I am assuming it has something to do with streaming. There doesn’t seem to be much info out there yet on paint kits or altering liveries. I am willing to learn new techniques. I just get the feeling that they are making it harder and harder for the community to contribute.

My fear is that they won’t allow this as they want to be able to sell liveries to users to make more money…

As all the default and marketplace aircraft are streamed repainters can’t even access the base textures to modify and create livery files.

I’ll never buy a product from the marketplace again for these reasons.

Fully Agree here as I only use my own livery for my private airlines. Now I’m only using the white livery.

I’m trying to edit a livery I downloaded (for personal use only) and had to use Nvidia’s Texture Tools Exporter to open these kts2 files as DDS and edit them with Photoshop - and then had to convert them back. Hope it works, because it is baffling to have multiple aircraft in the simulator and not be able to repaint them

Its like they had a meeting to see what they could do ro make everything as diffucult as possible.

The fact ppl have no access in combination with the fact that after scrolling through all installed liveries for a given plane there’s a button to “buy more liveries” on the (soon to come) marketplace kinda worries me.

However iirc MS/Asobo said they’ll make streaming optional / will allow us to install individual modules, so i guess we’ll be fine and the problem will be solved in some time, yea?

Got my fingers crossed…
