I’d like to share a work in progress look at my upcoming payware rendition of VIDP – Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
The primary goal of this project is to create a highly accurate, performance-friendly VIDP that truly captures the atmosphere of Delhi
VIDP has seen a few attempts in the past, but my aim here is to finally deliver a fully realised, long-term supported version, built from the ground up with modern MSFS standards in mind.
Scope-
- Detailed airside and landside modelling
- High-quality ground textures and markings
- Realistic night lighting (based on real reference)
- Optimised for performance on mid-range systems
- Interior for T3
- Up to date layout
- Both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024
About me - Some of you may know my previous work: VAPO – Pune International Airport (Freeware)
This was my first major release and received strong community support, which motivated me to take on a much larger and more ambitious project like VIDP.
I am attaching some early WIP screenshots of T1 and T3, please note that this is all in development and improvements will be made.
Feedback is welcome, and I’m excited to bring a proper rendition that VIDP deserves.

Just a tip: looks like you intend to use default jetway models, which many in the sim community frown upon these days. If you can make custom models, you’ll certainly appeal to more potential buyers.

You’re right so far the focus has been on finishing the terminals and ground texturing. I haven’t finalized the jetways yet, but I’ll keep this in mind. Thanks for the suggestion!

VAPO is fantastic so I can only imagine how good VIDP will be (apart from it being a gigantic airport compared to VAPO). Thanks for taking on the challenge! It’ll be an instant purchase for me.

The modelling of the terminal looks very good. For a truly convincing scenery, I would like to see slightly dirtier ground textures. Compared to photos of the real airport, they still look a little too clean for my taste. And the airport should have sufficient clutter on the apron for an authentic airport experience. I think that with the custom jetways mentioned above, slightly more authentic ground textures and more custom clutter, this could be a great scenery. And I also think it’s important that the peripheral and cargo areas of the airport are not neglected.
A good version of VIDP is really urgently needed. Thank you very much for your work!

Yes, please do address the jetways, and add ground clutter. That will make it a day1 purchase for me. Any tentative timlines for the release?
Yes, jetways and ground clutter will definitely be done, they’re very important for immersion, which is my main aim. I’m aiming for a release roughly a month from now. Thanks for the support!

Don’t be afraid to delay the release if you feel it’s not right. The MSFS community can be demanding but the critical voices don’t represent the majority, despite often being the loudest.
The community may not be full of talented scenery developers but we sure know what we want in an airport, so if you need guidance with anything, just shout.
We have very few decent Indian airports (SkyMatrix Jaipur, TaiModels Bengaluru and (just about) MSK Mumbai) but it’s a vast country with a rich aviation heritage.

Please consider a taxing layout so that BATC (those using it) recognizes the correct taxing instructions, thanks!
