Thanks for this information.
I dunno, I reran my test today in safe mode and with traffic at 0. Still had those periodic CPU spikes, really out of proportion. On my end it looks more like a general issue. But sure, anything that loads the CPU is going to make it worse.
Although it all but disappeared when I put TLOD to 0, so thatās the main culprit from my perspective.
Check experimental settings, something keeps resetting itself to āonā in there that was not there in SU13, āUse NANOVG for XML Gaugesā. I turn it off an my stutters go away. Iām not sure if thatās new for SU14 or what itās doing but at least for my specs it stopped my microstuttering.
I was also able to get my performance back by switching to DX12 beta and DLSS using DLSS 3.5.1 in my system. Look up DLSS Swapper to easily download and install.
Regardless, updates should not cause us this much headache imo.
Doesnāt work for me, still 48-49 fps where it used to be 58 in su14 with nanovg both on and off.
dx12 lowers the fps even further to 45 despite the dlss update.
Where are those experimental settings? Just in the standard menus somewhere?
Very intresting, thanks for sharing. I tried few moments ago but it doesnt work for me.
I tried to make a flight but its impossible to use MSFS with such horrible performace.
Zero issues with Gaist here. No loss in performance what so ever with it enabled.
Last year, I used to be able to fly the Fenix A320 into a detailed payware airport with TLOD 200 and every setting except clouds and shadows at Ultra/max, holding 30 FPS locked.
Now TLOD down to 170 & other settings down to high. Cannot hold 30 FPS when on final, post-SU14.
(My PC hardware benchmarked and no performance loss there).
It could be other add-ons in my Community Folder are not as optimised for SU14 as they were for previously, or it could be the changes made for SU14. Either way, this has been the least enjoyable update in over a year and a half.
I actually hope soā¦ it might mean this would be a easy fix for themā¦?
Performance down for me and a significant increase in CPU utilisation and very high temperature spikes. I could previously get 70FPS and minimal stutter in rural areas and about 40+FPS over London. Now, itās about 20FPS down in both.

The image below is one Iāve just taken. Often the CPU (Tctl/Tdie) reading will spike into the red. The CPU Die (average) has never hit the red before, now itās every flight.
Mmm ā¦ Iām very sure that something in SU14 has tanked performance on some systems (mine included).
Not a clue what it is tbh (probably CPU related) but I am wondering if only Asobo can correct this. It seems to be out of our hands, at least that is what I am seeing so far.
It will probably (hopefully) be corrected at some stage but when that time comes it would be great if Asobo could let us know the reason for it. āStuffā happens but I would love to know why.
I think Asobo has realized these issues and is working on improving them, hoping to bring users a better gaming experience through Hotfix. Thank you to the asobo team.
Hi @cdv00079374,
Please see the top of the forum thread, where we have the feedback-logged tag applied. This means the relevant teams have been made aware of the reports from users and will be investigating if needed.
Thanks,
The MSFS Team
Hello.
Same situation here.
After update to SU14 I have noticed certain drop of FPS.
For example, recently I took flights from and to Amsterdam airport (FlyTampa) scenery.
I used to have stable 38-40 fps with SU13 all around the airport since it was released. The only add-ons I have are PMDG 738 and FSLTL traffic (1 flying 4 addtionally parked). Actually, I used to have stable (locked) 40 fps in all European airports I have flown.
After update to SU14 I see 37-38 fps at approach and around 32-35 fps on the ground. So around 5-7 fps less. This is rather considerable downgrade, and very frustrating considering the amount of money Iāve spent for hardware in order to gain those addtional 5 fps.
My specs
3440x1440
I7 13700K
RX6900XT
32GB Ram
Graphics
PC / Steam
All Ultra / High
LOD 100
Terrain 100
Rolling Cache: On / 50Gb
Where did you see an indication of a hot fix being worked on? Or are you just hoping/speculating?
For me performance seems fine. I typically get around 100 FPS with FG on so around 50 ārealā FPS, playing at 4K with Ultra settings (TLOD 200). Updating the DLSS file seemed to help with the panning stuttering I initially had. The DLSSG file was already the latest version.
It also seems like DX12 uses a bit less VRAM than SU13. Now Iām typically at 85-90 % VRAM being used. Under SU13 it was maxed out most of the time.
Like most, Iām main thread limited. I canāt get the GPU above 80 % no matter what settings I use.
Specs are Intel i7-13700KF / RTX 4070Ti 12 Gb / 32 Gb DDR5 RAM.
Somethingās definitely up. You should be getting much better performance with that 6900xt but I feel like this game favors Nvidia. The AMD cards do have the advantage with more vram.
I am also using 3440x1440 and most of my settings are on ultra with a 4070 and 5800x3D 200 on both LODs. Iāll get about 40-60fps in most places with frame Gen off. 100-120fps with on.
@JohnDikkson Have you considered lowering traffic settings? My 4070 is almost always maxed out.
Very good point. As much I have seen Nvidia users dont have the performance degradation after SU14 and if so, they dont have so drastic degradation as AMD users.
Yesterday I noticed that not only my Ryzen 5 5600x is performing worse than before, but also my RX 6650 XT performed much better with SU13.
It seems that Asobo did the SU14 for Nvidia users forgetting the AMD users. But this is only a speculation, Im not sure and its only my personal impression.
Rocking Intel and Nvidia, performance is worse just the same
Not sure this is true.
Nvidia RTX 2070s here and my systemās performance has tanked too.
