Persistent stutters and flight interruptions since SU5 on High-End PC

Glad to hear that worked for you!

I went through the exact same troubleshooting steps, including a clean install and wiping the cloud synchronization data, but that alone did not solve the core issue on my end.

Ultimately, it was only the recent patch that provided the actual fix for the underlying performance problems. Before the update, I was stuck at around 75 FPS despite running a 7950X3D and an RTX 5080. Now, with the patch applied, I am finally back to my usual settings and hitting a smooth 120 FPS, even while running BeyondATC and full AI traffic.

Good to see performance is improving across the board.

Bad news…Unfortunately it happened again the following day. Even with PG off after several more clean installs of standard SU5 and SU5.1 on 6/15/26 Link

In that case you may be experiencing a different issue. I can replicate my issue 100% of the time and it doesn’t occur when PG is disabled or when I’m in a non-PG area. I also have never experienced the unexpected crash you had.

If you’re overclocking you may want to have a look at that since it appears you’ve tried everything else.

No OC. I think I have what you have plus something else. Maybe they are connected? With PG off it improves on runway like your experience as indicated by async spikes but once in VR or settings turned up above medium general instability persists. The only thing that temporarily fixes it is a clean install with no cloud sync.

Its amazing how these exact kinds of issues (supercomputers with less-super ability for running the game) were also a thing back in the FSX / Prepar3d days .. This little nugget is for entertainment purposes only!

Approach to the solution:

So, now wiped 2024 off the disk (with the Xbox app) + freed Adrenaline driver from 2024 + AddOns Linker OFF +!
Restarted my PC (also turned off the power supply for 10 sec before restarting)!

MSFS 2024 reinstalled with the Xbox APP.
“”“”“Restart without AddOns”“”“”.

  1. Set MSFS 2024 RAM from 16 to 32 GB.

  2. Flight with these settings has my PC and MSFS 2024 all set to ‘Ultra’, runs smoothly without any stuttering!!! (Shut down MSFS 2024)

  3. In AddOns Linker, only the extra planes like Reims & FlyingIron turned back on.

  4. New start MSFS 2024

  5. Runs smoothly without any!!! stuttering!

    3 x knock on wood

What do you mean with this?

I keep rolling cache at 96gb. it helps.

which patch?

SU5.1 Beta…

ok, thank you!

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I have been testing this all morning with multiple airliners at various airports, and it is the same no matter what. I even upgraded my CPU last weekend to see if it would help, and it’s still the same. FPS is locked at 60. GPU is at 60%, Vram never goes above 91% usage, CPU usage is around 40%. Somehow, I am still having stutters when on the ground and on every approach. On approach I would say they are out right freezes, as some last a couple of seconds. This was not an issue on SU4, or any of the SU5 beta builds I participated in. Somehow you managed to introduce with the release of SU5. I have had to lower all my graphics setting since the release of SU5 just to get some use out of your software, and it just keeps getting worse. This needs to be fixed, and soon. We are 18 months post release, and I am using a machine that far exceeds the requirements that were released back in 2024. These should not be issues.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every airliner flight

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load into free flight with my selected airliner from native to the Fenix/PMDG

  2. go through ground handling and startup procedures

  3. start taxi and stutters begin

  4. takeoff and flight super smooth great graphic with no stutters

  5. Start descent, and get to about 15000’, stutters start

  6. Reach final fully setup for landing with constant stutters

  7. 100’ AGL freezes start, lasting 1-2 seconds per

  8. Hopefully land safely

  9. clear runway and begin taxi, constant stutters all the way to gate and through shutdown

Did a clean windows install and I still get “Your last session ended unexpectedly”, Stutters, and Texture pop-in at 5-10ft. I’m completely defeated by this. I just want to play the game. Guess my $6k in sim gear is just going to sit here until its figured out.

It started happening to me right away, with micro-interruptions, and then, once in flight, completely randomly, interruptions of varying duration, even up to 45 seconds. This happened with the release of SU5; not before.
I solved the problem 100% thanks to the MSFS add-ons linker. Now I only upload what I need, so I only keep the essentials in the community folder. Yes, it’s frustrating having to log out every time to make changes, but it’s much less annoying than the constant interruptions.

You should be able to identify the “bad” addons and remove them completely. You have to perform the procedure maybe more than once, since often more than one addon causes trouble.

I’m a sucker for troubleshooting tips, and recently had to track down a new problem of instability on my PC. Not specifically related to stutters, but the troubleshooting concepts apply when a cause for stutters is hard to find.

TL/DR - Don’t ignore all of the extra utility software you might be running for things like LED lighting, those little screens on fans or in cases that display metrics, MSI Center, Armoury Crate, etc, etc. I had been using GPU Tweak without issue for a year, but it suddenly became a problem with updates to BIOS and Windows. It took me a long time and a lot of trial and error to find it.

Interesting video by Blackbird PC Tech on the subject.

Hello! That’s a good and pragmatic workaround for now. But ideally, you shouldn’t have to disable the add-ons you paid for just to keep the sim running smoothly.
The core issue seems to be how the current SU5 architecture handles heavy data injection through SimConnect on some systems. This bottleneck causes performance to drop, while your CPU and GPU get “bored” and sit at low utilization simply because no new data is coming through the pipeline.
The good news is that the SU5.1 beta is already processing this data streaming much better. Once the patch officially drops, you should hopefully be able to enjoy all your add-ons simultaneously again without the constant folder juggling!

Has anyone noticed any improvement or still the same issues ?
