Photogrammetry looks awful especially NYC

I will test again soon! I believe it may be my Internet!

In terms of complaints Iā€™ve never really had a huge issue with photogrammetry. It is what it is. For performance reasons the sims native photogrammetry is pretty downgraded. I create PG sceneries ripped from Google earth avaialable over on flightsim.to and with the right optimisation you can create higher resolution PG and it does look much better. Not everyone has higher spec GPUā€™s capable of handling it though. I can see why Asobo dialled things back. Maybe as the years go by and systems improve Asobo will tweak things to allow higher resolution PG.

I think people need to be realistic. It would be great to fly low over London in a helicopter and see a beautifully looking high resolution version of the city below but weā€™re a good few years from that being technically achievable. Even this highest resolution PG isnā€™t going to look great up close.

After Sim Update 5 they nerfed the Photogrammetry building almost around the whole world. Its quality have been set down a little bit some certain area. I hope they can fix this asap.

My rig: RTX 3080
AMD 5950x

All set to Ultra and high. 400 and 200 max detail.

NYC skyline always looked terrible on my end.I bought the NYC City pack on sale and it looks way better.
The photogrammetry ones looks like melted wax from a distance

Iā€™ve been flying over London and Iā€™m very frustrated with the speed that the scenery is loading in. The buildings and trees are forming as I am flying over them. When they do fully form they look great but itā€™s a mess flying around and seeing the melted buildings and trees load in.

I have a high-end PC (3090 etc) and fast megabit ethernet.
I tried Speedtest just now and was getting 400Mbps+ download and upload speeds. So everything is good at my end. I also deleted the rolling cache.

Is this a MS server issue?

I have 1 gig internet and a med-high PC and New York City and the surrounding areas in New Jersey look like garbage. Iā€™ve deleted cache etc etc and it just always looks mediocre at best.

OK I believe its my in Internet speed is the issue.

That sucks, that folks have to be internet connection quality dependent. Some have good and bad connection days. Makes me miss autogen method. Donā€™t get me wrong this streaming tech is amazingā€¦but thatā€™s a huge downside that depending on the mood of ones connection they will have crisp photogrammetry or melted lego building syndrome.

Bought the samscene NY add on and it looks fantastic, wasnā€™t exactly shoddy before but this is another levelā€¦London on the other hand is still pretty dodgy

The SamScene NYV scenery + RKBRIDGER NYC bridge pack are amazing. But itā€™s still a freaking shame that what SHOULD be one of the most visually amazing places to fly in the United States has to rely on third party scenery to look this good (live weather late this afternoon local NYC time today):

Does look really good!

When you test your internet speed, like at speedtest.net, what is the result? What is the nominal speed youā€™re paying for?

Iā€™m dangling at the bottom of the Hw food-chain but I still get reasonable results over NY.
GPU: Gtx-1060
CPU: I7-7700
Iā€™m not using rolling cache and have an average Internet speed. I suspect thereā€™s something else thatā€™s causing your system to run slow.
If you share your specs and settings Iā€™m sure someone can get you in the air again.

Suppose to be 1GB Fibre but done a speed test and only got 9 DL and 5 UL.

RTX3070ti

Are you physically plugged into your router or using wireless?

Plugged directly in! Itā€™s very odd. Might need to check the cable I have my from phoneline to the router.

Itā€™s a very old cable.

Iā€™ve seen that in here before.
It can help.

Iā€™m having a hard time seeing whatā€™s wrong in the photo. Can you elaborate.

I donā€™t think there is? I believe he said heā€™s happy with performance.
