Photoreal background in Free Flight selection screen

When selecting Free Flight, and on the next screen when selecting airports, can we remove the clouds when viewing the Earth to select the parking spots. It overlays the ground detail.

Wish 2: Can we get an option to just have a simple map to select the airports? Not photoreal imagery.

@ShezAnsari I’ve created your post in User Support Hub > User Interface & Activities as only 1 request is permitted per wish topic.

Clouds can be removed using the layer widget in the world map:
Layer Widget

Click “Advanced”:

Then set the weather layer to off:

To see a simple map:

then choose map view:

Oh OK! Thanks for the point out.

Back to this. If I change the settings to the clouds, SU3/4 the setting does not remember this and on next start it displays clouds again.

This has been reported in the SU4 Beta category, Weather & Live Weather section.
See this report: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/time-and-weather-flight-conditions-are-getting-reset-to-live-on-restart-of-sim/737556/3

The issue of these layer choices not being persisted across sessions has been occurring since before SU3 - see:

For me this is still an open item.

I would prefer an option which allows me to permanently have the weather removed from the free flight screen so I could see the world map without clouds etc. and be able to zoom in to see the airports in a particular region.

For users who want to see the clouds, the option can be turned off.

There is an add on MSFS 2024 Worldmap Filter Addon Creator, you run the exe file and choose which features (weather for example) you want or don’t want), it creates a file which you place in your Community folder. Took me less then 5 minutes and I have not needed to change the world map settings since.

Think doing a search for the name should point you to where the file can be found.
