I have Steam VR active. The only thing I can think, is that FS has to be the Steam version, and FS started from inside Steam VR. Which means that if you have the Microsoft Store version of FS, the Pico 4 is not going to be recognised? Surely, this cant be? As far as I know, there is no way I can add a non Steam purchased game to the Steam library?

You definitely can. Whether MSFS works that way I don’t know, but here is a guide:

Hi. Thank you for reply. I have tried that but MSFS is NOT on the list of games that I can add to the Steam Library. MS Flightsim Forum is on the list, plus loads of other apps, games and sims. There must be some other way to add it?

Sorry, I don’t know. Probably not :frowning:

See my reply, thanks.

It seems that the Pico 4 is only intended as a standalone VR headset. It does NOT support Windows Open XR, and it has been confirmed to me by Steam that they do NOT support the Pico 4. Hopefully, with updates that will change. I have Virtual Desktop and FSVR will not start (No headset detected, and no support for Open XR). I have tried starting it through Steam VR, and it will not work through that? As said Steam will NOT give support, so no help there. The Steam ‘Non Steam Games’ list does NOT show MSFS in its list ( Microsoft Store Version) to add, why I don’t know, it shows everything else? I have tried loads of ways to get the Pico 4 to work in FSVR, but have failed. Pity, it is a very good VR headset, especially for stand alone use.

i use PICO 4 in VR with msfs
 run Virtual desktop on the heaadset
 connect to pc and launch msfs (not open SteamVR) when the game is loaded enter in vr mode and msfs autolaunch SteamVR. If i started SteamVR before it dosen’t work

That seem to be a problem with your setup!
The Pico 4 is NOT ONLY a standalone headset. It works perfectly with MSFS and of course with steam VR. I am using the pico 4 to play MSFS and other steam VR titles :man_shrugging:
The connection is done via virtual desktop.
Make sure to use only wireless connection, the cabled connection does not work entirely. Make sure to have a connection speed of at least 800mbit/sec.

You did not understand properly what they told you, proof of it being the folks who already replied above that MSFS works for them, and I’m not even going to mention the YT videos showing it working and the many other people on this forum and on the iRacing forum that have it working.

Pico doesn’t have their own native OpenXR runtime, however the headset can be used through Virtual Desktop, which can in turn be used via OpenXR for SteamVR.

You need to install and configure Virtual Desktop in Steam to connect to your Pico, then toggle to OpenXR for SteamVR (the link I shared above). It doesnt matter that your game is bought from MS store and not added to your Steam library. This isn’t how OpenXR works. This wasn’t even how OpenVR worked either.

Not sure what step you are missing, but it’s 100% an issue on your end.

Thanks for replies. Yes there was an issue, and it has now been resolved after a few scans and corrupted file repairs. With Pico 4, go into Virtual Desktop adjust settings, then click Steam VR. Then Steam VR settings panel, increase the resolution, it was low. Then start FS and FSVR, adjust the Open XR Toolkit, increase sharpness to 80%. restart FS, back into FSVR and choose a Discovery Flight over London UK
 And I was gobbed smacked! I am getting a respectable 30 to 35FPS, over London City with FSVR settings set to High! And the sharpness is fantastic, so is the brightness and contrast. Smooth, no shimmering, no shaking. This is by far the very best FSVR performance are have seen on my PC! In contrast to my Quest 2, it struggled in FSVR at 18-20 FPS, it was shimmering, shaking and the image was not clear, and the image looked dull and ‘washed out’ ! What an amazing difference! I did try with Pico Streamer, but it is no way as good as the Virtual Desktop Streamer. A fantastic start to the New Year. FSVR at last, here I come!

Pico 4 works nowadays just fine with Stream Assistant (v9.4.7.1); both wireless and wired connection.

I’d rather prefer wired connection and Stream Assistant over Virtual Desktop due lower latency.

  • Install OpenXR Toolkit >= 1.3.2
  • Opt-in for SteamVR beta >= 1.26.1
  • Make sure “SteamVR” is selected under “Current Open XR Runtime”
  • Start Flight Simulator and enjoy :grinning:
