Pilot Profile Completely Lost

Hi,

my pilot profile data have just been completely wiped… MSFS was unable to sync with the cloud since yesterday (not an issue with my Internet connection), today after having another issue with Game Disc insertion that is usually solved by fixing login to the xbox app the game offered a choice between local and cloud copies of the profile, I chose the local copy that was newer and now all my profile data is gone - 0 flown hours etc. My graphics and controllers settings were, however, kept (luckily).

Is there a way to still restore the profile? And where is the profile stored, can I back it up myself to prevent this from happening again? (I have the PC MS Store version).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This article may be some help:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/known-issue-authentication-insert-disc-logbook-lost-unable-to-sync-with-cloud-etc/639057/2

This is a very generic article addressing many different problems. Are you saying that the data can be somehow restored when they don’t seem to be present in the cloud anymore? I fail to see any part of the article that would be dealing with it.

I am of course grateful for any reply, but I do not really want to spend hours trying to follow a number of steps that “probably may help… and this is worth a try too…” I work in IT, this is a very clear and obvious issue - logbook data disappeared. Are they still stored somewhere in the cloud or not? If yes, can they be pulled from the cloud somehow? These are all simple questions that only require people that really know to take 2 mins of their time and answer it. Everything else is a waste of time of users that pay for the product. As far as I’ve learned I am not the only one impacted by this so it would certainly be worth their time.

I don’t think its ever been clarified how this fault manifests. Is it the data in the cloud being deleted, or is it the local copy gets wiped/corrupted somehow, which then gets synced to the cloud, so the cloud copy is wiped?

I’ve had that pop up many times, and each time I have selected my local copy, and fortunately it has never wiped my profile or log book.

I believe some users have reported having some luck with logging out of the Xbox app, then logging back in again.

If you do manage to get it back, though I’m not 100% convinced this is possible, I would recommend searching the forums for methods to back up your “wgs” folder, which is your local copy of your profile, containing controller configurations, and your logbook.

There is also a tool that is specifically for editing, and backing up your logbook.

Not this tool is not able to restore a lost/wiped profile, only backup/restore your logbook.

Maybe try logging out of your microsoft store account and then back in again. It might not be exactly the same, but I’ve had issues previously, when an Xbox app update has been applied, and a re-login has resolved it.

Yes, the article covers a lot of suggestions.
They may or may not be any help.
It basically is a list of all known solutions, each has worked in some instances, they may or may not be of any help to you.
It’s up to you whether you want to try them.

happend to me the freakin 2nd time within 2 Month!!! unbeliveable! I don’t know any other game nor live service where a costumer has to be concerned about his data and profile!!
Support really sucks on that topic (Sorry can’t find any other words for it no more) No help from them!
Guy’s what is going on there? People are loosing all theire control and periphial settings, flighthours, scores & archievements… worst is the lost of all control profiles for the most, I think!

And now for me it seem’s i need to do a complete re-install as the sim keeps getting stuck on updating the sim with whatever i actually have already installed! NOT FUNNY!

Hope the Technichal team of MSFS and MICRSOFT/XBOX are aware of that and put really high priority on that as this is one of the worst case when costumers of a live service-game are loosing their Profile Data!!

Hi everyone. I just noticed this few days ago when my call sign name was different. All the purchased scenery have disappeared, my profile shows ZERO hours I had over 120 - I am totally lost of how to recuperate what I had. Any help is extremely appreciated. Most importantly I do not want to loose all the add ons that I purchased. Thank you

Did you change your gamertag?
If so and your purchases did not show up, I would complete the “Submit a Request” tab in the Support tab at the top of the forum page.
MSFS support should be able to help.

TheSevenflyer. Thank you for your reply. I did not change anything. I just noticed that my call sign has changed and all enhanced purchases are not loading.

Will deleting the program entirely and re installing (which is a pain and time consuming ) will solve the issue? Thank you

I guess good and bad, no, it will not - good cause you don’t need to re-install, bad because it doesn’t solve the issue.

If you are missing marketplace purchases, in your Content Manager, are your purchases showing up?

By “call sign”, do you mean your Gamertag?

It’s the name that is displayed in the upper right corner of the Main Menu screens.

I ask, because if you are logged in with a different gamertag than the one that you made the purchases with, then you will not have access to those purchases.

You need to ensure you are logged in with the gamertag that you originally used when you made the purchases.

Yeah, that’s what I asked and the response was no!

The question though is what do they mean by “call sign”.

Call sign under World Map > click Aircraft image > Customization > Call Sign?

Or gamertag?

Telling you they changed nothing doesn’t answer that question.

Hi and than you - I only have one name tag.

My name tag is the same - I only have one.
Call sign was changed to the generic of fs2020 without me changing it.
If I do what you are suggesting
Call sign under World Map > click Aircraft image > Customization > Call SigN
Will that restore the pilot profile in your opinion. Thank you

The cloud keeps it under your game name tag.
Changing the call sign in the selection will not help.
That is only used for ATC purposes.

If this is the case, you’re going to need to contact Zendesk and explain this situation.

If you are logged in as the same gamertag you have always used and you don’t have access to the purchases you’ve made then someone within the Microsoft organization is going to have to resolve this for you.

As stated, changing your Call Sign has absolutely nothing to do with your purchase history.

Hi,
I have the same problem today. After hours of carrer mode, the game wants me to perform a complete new configuration with a new profile at startup.

Did you find a solution ?

My profile is clearly current in xbox app when I look at the flight simulator app. But I’ve tried many things and the achievements and hours wont show in fsim anymore. please help.
