Pilot2ATC very unstable

I just downloaded this program the other day to get away from the awful in game ATC and so far when it works seems to be pretty cool. The issue is it’s becoming unresponsive. This happened yesterday the first time I used it and today on the same flight. This is becoming a bit much having to run the game, steam, fsupic, mobiflight, pilot2atc and DS4 all at once. Switching back and forth between the game and the program seems like it would be something that could be causing issues for me. Is it absolutely essential to run this program in another window so I don’t have to induce potential issues switching back and forth? I have the say it button macrod to a key on my controller which is good for responses but I have to still switch back to build the phrases if I want to report to another frequency or request clearance or taxi for example.

The plane continues tracking in the map panel and the voice continues giving commands but I can’t get it to unbrick graphically and it will not respond to input at all.

Hi @DrFillyBlunt,

As your post is about issues with 3rd party content, I’ve moved your topic to the #third-party-addon-discussion:tools-utilities category which is more appropriate :+1:

Thanks!

That was the last “official release” which was quite sometime ago and many updates ago.

Once you have that base version installed, go to the Public Beta section and install the latest. Many releases have been put out and a ton of fixes / imrpovements.

Mine runs perfectly aside from the occassional issue where my Amazon Poly voices don’t play and I have to restart it (but that’s only on initial load, they dont quite during use).

Among the fixes, it no longer says “whinds”

skypilot I’m with you 100% on those comments and was just about to write something similar. The Polly voices definitely enhance the enjoyment of it all but as you say it needs several restarts on some occasions. The polly app itself seems to work ok but unfortunately p2atc doesn’t seem to kick it into life. I considered actually buying the ivona voices but I read somewhere that they can also fail to work even when installed on the computer.
And yes the “whinds” was whinding me up something awful.
On the whole p2atc is well worth persevering with as the MSFS ATC is totally unfit for purpose.

Also just noticed you’re using the NavDataPro AIRAC version, which is quite outdated (as is the Navigrah version).

If you do have a subscription to Navigraph you can use Nav Data Center to update P2ATC with the latest AIRAC’s.

Might have something for you :yum:

Awesome, fingers crossed on that one! Let’s hope it gets resolved as it is frustrating and worse still all the messing about eats into precious flying time.
Thanks

I’ve also had some weirdness in instructions given and with becoming unresponsive and just repeating its last command over and over.

I took @skypilotYTS’ advice and installed the latest beta build over top of the existing version and it seems to have fixed those issues.

When installing the Beta, it’s important to note that you must first install the base release, and then the Beta overtop.

The program will not work if you just install the Beta itself.

One issue I have seen over the past couple of days (but seems to have been corrected) is that when it looks “frozen” if you actually tab out of it to something else, there is an error message behind it about the voice not being able to play. when you clear that, it resumes.

That being said, I am using Amazon Polly voices not the Microsoft ones so could have been related to that.

Also, if you have Navigraph, make sure you install the FMS Data Manager from their website and update the AIRAC within P2ATC to the latest as the one it ships with is very old.
