Plane harshly pulling up or down

Basically having a bit of an issue all of a sudden with the plane wanting to pull down or up when I relax stick. I’m having to constantly trim or input on the stick to keep somewhat level. Noticing it on the bonanza and pretty much anything other than the a320. Is it normal for the smaller planes to act like this? Is constant input needed. If so I just need to get better

Like really harshly? or just a little

If speed starts to increase or decrease, it’s normal to have to re-trim

Really harsh. Like instant stall harsh

Maybe a bug in the trim. If you look at the wheel, is it moving nice and smooth or is it just going full up and down only.

Is there some sort of assistance on the discovery flights because it dosnt happen on them, I was thinking it might be the hotas but surely it would replicate in the discovery flights if this was the case

maybe it’s because of wind, maybe it’s a trim bug introduced by SU5

Have you tried setting weather to Clear Skies and no winds?

Yes it’s normal and trimming out the constant pressure on the stick is a basic part of flying. You should be able to use the elevator trim such that the plane will fly straight and level once you’ve set the power; and the attitude and speed has stabilized. It’s something you would do after every change of attitude, throttle, or even in response to winds and thermals.

In real life flying, you can feel the pressure on the stick/yolk easing off as you adjust the trim so it’s pretty natural to do. In the sim (any sim), that feeling isn’t there and you end up adjusting back and forth until you get there (at least I do :grimacing:) It’s a pain. It is a bit easier with practice but without the feeling isn’t very intuitive. Just make sure you have the elevator trim mapped to something convenient to use … I have it set to my joystick buttons.

Same goes for aileron and rudder trim … but to a much lesser extent, at least on GA aircraft.

I did try this, and it did the same thing.

I’d be happy if it’s just a case of me rubbish in the GA aircraft, just concerned there’s something wrong with either hardware or software.

You have an issue for sure. It’s most likely a controller or joystick constantly trying to alter the trim somehow. Go into the controls menu and search for the word trim. It will show you all the controls bound to trim controls. This will help you to find and unbind any controls that affect trim that you don’t want. Make sure to search for trim for each control type.

Thanks for advice, I will give this a try

Just to be on the safe side check your control calibration and bindings.

I will have to check this out . I’m very new to all this , and it’s something that I really only noticed yesterday after almost a week of non-issue

This is correct it’s a trim bug introduced by SU5 you just have to touch the Trim Wheel and some of the GA aircraft will literally start dived or go on a serious crime rate. SU5 fault for sure.

Here I found the correct bug thread where we can upvote this issue.

Cheers Mark

I’m wondering would enabling AI autotrim fix this ?

No. Check your trim wheel binds and play with the sensitivity setting of your joystick. The trim can be overly sensitive (has been so since day 1 ).
