Here’s a workaround to get rid of the white dot:

If you find the the white dot that appears in the middle of the screen when using Xbox controller irritating, try doing the following to make it disappear: (1) under the controller setting, assign a key for "Toggle Cockpit Focus Mode". As shown in the screenshot below, I assigned it to right arrow of my Xbox controller. (2) During the flight, click the key you assigned above twice (i.e. focus then unfocus).
