PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

You can set the price lower than 4.99$ through sales. Take a look at the “Featured” MP section and sort from price: low to high. I just brought this up on their forums.

Edit: $ not %

I wonder if also there is a thing called corporate logo rights and a big bad corporate giant not going to wade in on some kid who made a livery and posted for free on flightsim.to and take that kid to the cleaners vs another corporate makeing money off a product and having a direct link in a livery design that is on that “paid” product, be it a third party developer or msfs/Asobo themselves… hence the charge on the market place

This was discussed by a PMDG developer in a forum post - while they can set a sale price, an item cannot enter the Marketplace at that sale price. It has to be listed and put up for sale, and THEN marked down. I don’t recall if there is some minimum time before it can be discounted, however, or if there is a maximum time it can be discounted.

The least they can do is set the lowest price and immediately apply for the soonest and largest discount. The Fulcrum livery pack had been on perma sale for months for example.

It’s not fair that we bought the aircraft in nov 2021 and it had a few liveries at least and now it has one.

What aircraft are you talking about? This is a 737 thread. If you mean the DC-6, that’s a different aircraft and you should talk about in a different thread. Or start a general threat in the General forum to complain about Marketplace policies, and XBox aircraft package size limitations (which is the root of the liveries issue).

This is a 737 thread yes but the last six hours people have been talking about the issue of no liveries as standard in the dc6 but available as a separate charged for pack on marketplace. This is the point of the pmdg thread that was linked.

And the reasons for that have been explained - if you don’t like it, complain in the DC-6 thread (the product to which it applies), complain to PMDG In their forums, or start a thread to address Marketplace issues that are the cause of your complaint.

So stoked to see they got the first plane through. Come on 737!!!

I read that they’ll have various models -600, -700, -800, -900. Is length the only difference? Anything good to know before we/I purchase one of the bunch?

Unless I missed something further up (very possible!), the 737-700 is available in the FS2020 Marketplace, but the 600,800, and 900 are not. I have the 800, which is the first airplane I’ve purchased that’s not on the Marketplace.

From what I understand, all cockpits are identical for the four variants, but the length/weights are different. Should be near-zero learning curve to switch between them, though I think longer aircraft have more risk of tail strikes at takeoff rotation.

I see the 600 is $35, half the price I paid for the 800, so I might add it one of these days for something new.

yeah, that’s my thinking also. Extra length and weight, otherwise the same.

-700/-800 come with cargo / BBJ variants, -600/-900 dont

Hi All,

Two questions. First regarding changing your cruise level after already reaching TOC and second meeting an Altitude requirement at at WAYPOINT.

This morning I was flying on VATSIM during a very busy period in the US between Boston and Baltimore. Due to there being so many aircraft, ATC started amending peoples cruise levels. I was asked to change from FL320 to FL280. I changed my Altitude in my MCP and then adjusted my CRZ level in the FMC. However after leveling out at my new CRZ Altitude my speed plummeted to my approach speed and I even got an “AIR SPEED LOW” warning. I ended up taking manual control of the speed as no matter what I did the aircraft would not resume normal cruise speed without manual input on the MCP.

The second thing I got asked to do was meet a WAYPOINT at a certain altitude that was not apart of a ARRIVAL. This was just a standard way point on route. I wanted to change the altitude for this way point in my FMC. When I did so I got INVALID ENTRY when placing a speed e.g .77/FL280.

I was able to put in the FMC /FL280 and it accepted it however then would drop my cruise speeds back to approach speeds.

Can anyone help me with how to perform this correctly. I am sure it is an error by me and not the aircraft.

Many Thanks.

On SPAD.next, I have the value “PMDGNG3:EVT_EFIS_CPT_MINIMUMS” set to one of the side switches on my Honeycomb Alpha yoke (can’t determine right now if it’s a data or event value…I think it’s an event based on the name; don’t have my controls hooked up right now so I’m having to look through the profile xml file).

I have one direction set to increasing the value (set so that the value increases when the button is held); the other direction is set to decreasing the value (again, as the button is held). Great for setting baro minimums at high altitude airports.

This version of the NG doesn’t allow step descents. If you start a descent you’ll put the FMS into descent mode and you can’t get back to cruise mode. This is correct behaviour while there have been software changes in later FMS models that actually can handle a cruise descent. So what you did is correct, you leave VNAV and take MCP control over the speed.

I don’t think you can set a Mach number as a constraint. Use knots and try again. I don’t know this for sure though.

Ah that makes sense, thanks. For some reason I had it in my mind there was a way to assign a button such that it would set the minimums immediately - I know, daft idea…

Thank you very much for your reply. I am glad i at least did something right!

I will try KNOTS for the constraints next time.

Thanks again.

For those who follow the 737 closely…do they have any plans for a proper simbrief integration (auto pulling flightplans into the sim) or are they still going to be doing the download plans thing?

Auto SimBrief flight plans and Navigraph charts will come with the EFB that is in development.

Many thanks for the information, its not something I knew so much appreciated :+1:

Can’t wait for this bird to come to XBOX! Given the DC6 is perfectly fine with WASM on console I hope it won’t be too long a wait now.
