PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

Steam’s Hardware Survey Has a pretty good overview of the current averages with regards to hardware. Website isn’t loading for me at the moment, but there is an archived version available.

The most used is indeed 8GB, but two thirds of the users have 6GB or less.

Also, I’m afraid the current market split is more around 75,4% Nvidia, 15,1% AMD and the rest is other… Shame, AMD’s open source approach is much better in my opinion.

a GTX 1070 that is already on the verge of being obsolete by next-gen standards already have 8GB of VRAM and most simmers are all too aware that simming has always been a CPU/GPU hungry hobby, so yes, I wouldn’t be surprised the majority, while not necessarily a vast one, does have indeed 8GB of VRAM and at least 16GB of RAM. Just look at all the posts in support topics where people are describing their setup…

Heck, even my RTX 2070 Super is certainly to be considered low-mid-range now, especially in this line of hobby.

And this is all before you consider the vram constraints on Xbox.

I have 16 GB and MSFS fills it in busy areas with 4K Resolution.
3090 with 8k nearly fills 24gb VRAM (As far as i remember 22GB Vram usage)

I don’t think we’ll get the 737 next few weeks. You don’t see the EFB in the trailer. I don’t think they want to disappoint us so they develop the EFB during the beta.

A lot can be done in the FMS, So Add-ons in other sims use the FMC in place of an EFB, not all but some do.

I can tell you that all the customization in the P3D version of the PMDG jets is done in FMS.

Which, if people weren’t paying attention, was exactly what was shown in the preview video released a couple weeks ago.

I’m getting more excited all the time for this. Just did a test flight of SU8 on the FBW A320 and honestly the Sim is performing so well right now. Stable frames, no stutters on the ground or in flight. If the 737 performs similar to the FBW A320 in terms of FPS and such I’m all set.

Positive update, no worries from me. All seems to be going as expected if not slightly better.

Perfect! Now the photorealism mode fully kicks in. Now I don´t know anymore which one to prefer - the Fenix or the PMDG jet?! If this ultra perfectionism continues only the Elden Ring will decide which jet will rule them all…

Seems to me we should just be happy to have two such excellent planes on the way. Plus the Maddog is coming too. At any rate I’ll be skipping the Fenix and using the money for the Boeing, purely because I’m happy with the FBW but don’t have a really nice Boeing.

It certainly answers the questions of those who complained that it was going to be showroom clean.

It will be nice to have a nice 737, I can forget about that Brejunk one ever getting better…. Its just trash….

Hope they bring it out before WWIII starts.

I am really looking forward to this plane. But be honest, I didn’t find the texture quality too impressive compared to Fenix or even some default planes. Not bad though.

Hm but after seeing this in the video I knew that it also needs some dirt and wear on the panel. Just to get a matching overall slightly used look:

I would prefer it showroom clean  but I take any Boeing I can get. As long as my PC is showroom clean and brandnew-looking with perfect cable management that´s good enough. The Boeing itself can have some slightly used look with a little bit of dust.

Why not just do proper wear and tear and allow users to clean the screens and or reset the state of the aircraft? If you are a pilot and just fly a plane for an airline fine it should look worn. If you just bought 30 737 from Boeing though they should come bran new. Some people will buy these for their economy modes and want them looking new.

So why not model wear and tear internally and give an option to reset it? Which leads to my next question. Will we be able to load a factory clean looking cockpit and airplane or forced to use dirty screens and wear and tear in our new planes?

Every single glass panel in this house is spotless. They are wiped after every use. My airplane would be no different

Someone asked exactly this on their forums. Roberts reply was they have no plans to implement internal dynamic wear and tear, the amount of work needed is beyond the scope of the project essentially. As for different flight decks I’m not sure.

Yes. That’s a, “Please understand the size of our team is limited.” kind of response.

Asobo has 220 total employees and 1/3rd of them are working on the next in the, “A Plague’s Tale” series.

How many people do you think are working at PMDG on the 737?
