PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

I think it’s to do with the fact that weather radar isn’t fully available in sim (think 3d weather analysis here) Weather radar on other aircraft is displayed as 2D top down view, so that likely isn’t considered realistic enough for pmdg 737 so they were / are waiting for API to improve, but it involves Meteoblue, the supplier of that data. I’m not sure what happened if anything on this front in the sim. It’s on their radar though

Does it update automatically as you try various selections? If it does I could do that.

This aircraft is on another level than we are used to… I also had the rudder stuck and found a video explaining that ( probably due to my messing up the aircraft while learning… some maintenance was needed! ). Go to FMC and Ground Maintenance option and click the first option ( Hydraulic oil replace or something similar if I recall correctly. After that rudder will function again. Hope it helps.

One of the most common issues you may come across in this regard is brakes overheating. It’s advisable to use the auto brakes on landing, but I originally found myself using too little auto brake & manual braking too hard after landing, perhaps too fast an approach speed too. When you do this, you can easily find that the brakes overheat or a tyre needs replaced due to too much heat. It manifests as not being able to move on the runway or taxiway after runway exit. You find that the only way past it is to do maintenance on the tyres or brakes or cool the brakes, all achieved from the maintenance menu in FMC.
Just one to look out for as you may otherwise just end up scratching your head as you are stuck, completely immobile on a taxiway.

Yes thankyou I figuered it out. Yes indeed have to get used to this level of detail. I remapped my whole setup prior to finding out I won’t doubt my setup again

I am using the honeycomb alpha and bravo on Xbox with the 737 without any issues let me know what your issues are and I’ll share my set up if it helps

Yes. Almost instantly. Hit excecute and re review the route using the plan setting and step through the waypoints.

We’re you able to map the intervention buttons to something?

Is the ils more sensitive/realistic compared to what we’re used to with defualt planes I’m aware this could be a silly question lol? I am having issue with attitude diamond slipping off at 2700/3000 feet

I notice Simbrief doesn’t seem to give an approach when creating a flight plan, do you input this when in the air, such as ILS approach/runway that ATC gives you?

You mean ils frequency? I get this from navigraph charts and enter mid flight or early approach

I mean the approach I think, such as when in flight ATC let you know what runway to use. I might be getting arrival and approach mixed up.

Ok you mean simbrief doesn’t show approach waypoints if you use navigraph and then import the flight plan from simbrief it will show the approach.

Awesome thanks, found it, really cool what navigraph can do.

I hope the 737 with the outdated airac doesn’t cause many issues with a sub with navigraph and it’s up to date nav data, as I think I will like using it for flight planning.

Looks like I’ll be using Route Finder for the 737 until this issue gets sorted.

Atm its been fine from what I have used from navigraph having a lot of fun with it and setting up the FMC correctly. If your not satisfied with navi remember you can cancel anytime :+1:

PMDG cannot update the nav data through a monthly hotfix - not for technical reasons, but because they do not own the nav data. It is a copyrighted product that is owned by Navigraph.

PMDG had an arrangement with Navigraph allowing them to include a complimentary copy of the Navigraph database that was current when the 737 initially released, which is the only version now available on the XBox version of the 737.

I think (but am not sure) that because XB limits stand-alone files from external sources, the only solution at this time would be if Navigraph themselves offered updated PMDG 737 nav data for XBox via the MSFS Marketplace.

Is there a reason I’m not seeing for PMDG (and Aerosoft w/ the CRJ) to use a default, outdated, Navigraph AIRAC baked into their plane rather than just use the sim default? For XBox, at least they would get regular Navblue AIRAC updates, and PC users with a Navigraph sub would just be replacing the in-sim nav data with their subscription nav data like usual.

Baking in an AIRAC just seems to cause more issues than it solves.

Couldnt agree more with you. I have spent a fortune too and I for one find it disgusting how I have possibly spent close to £1000 on the copy of sim and also all add ons.
And thats not including the console, the new LG C2 oled and also the flight controls accessories.

Frigging caught with my pants down is an understatement.

Would rather of opted for a PC for the sim and possibly a PS5 for other games.

Does the base sim transfer to PC too?
