How is the aircraft on Xbox?
Did pmdg fix the bug that caused the knobs to spin infinitely if you use the controller?
I use the simulator via Xcloud and I’m interested in buying it.

Nope, AFAIK still an issue. Don’t know if Xcloud is picking up on keyboard and mouse yet, but simply plugging a mouse in will solve the spinning knobs, you don’t even have to use the mouse. I actually only have the USB receiver for my mouse plugged in, mouse isn’t even on, but it solves it.
this is bad. Xcloud does not support K&M.
That + the problem with the outdated AIRAC is a reason for me not to buy it yet.
I will continue following the discussion here.
Thank you very much!
I own it and the outdated AIRAC drives me out of my mind. At this point with PMDG putting their resources into getting the EFB up and running on Xbox, it’s doubtful that we’ll ever see a solution to the problem IMHO.
Pmdg just put all the Xbox liveries on 60% off sale.
I just can’t even. I’m not going to comment on it because I’ll get banned.
To be fair I think the roadblock is with Microsoft. They have not figured out how to preserve the walled garden of Xbox while allowing a simple, regular periodic data file update from the developer for the navdata AIRAC cycles. PMDG and Navigraph suggested that WASM functionality has opened a pathway to allow it, but I think it’s still being held up by Microsoft (If I’m understanding what the various devs have posted).
It’s a shame - PMDG didn’t adapt their plane to use the Sim’s native navdata because at the time Navigraph was used widely on XPlane, FS, and available on MSFS, and easy to update on PC - and, it represented a huge amount of work just to adapt for Xbox. Microsoft, however, simply offers access to the sim’s native NavBlue navdata API and doesn’t seem to want to prioritize helping solve the problem. Nor do they provide any kind of warning that navdata is stuck in the past on the Marketplace.
The v2204 Navigraph navdata embedded in the PMDG 737 on Xbox is approaching 2 years out of date, and each time I try to plan a flight it’s harder and harder to match runways, SIDs, waypoints, STARs and approaches, so I just stop flying it, and stop buying the related products.
The irony is that the 737 is probably the most comprehensive plane on Xbox so far, but between MS / Asobo / PMDG and Navigraph, they still aren’t able to update a navdata file periodically because ‘reasons’.
So it does work, but if you double click on the knobs then they spin. You need to actual click it once and then use RS or RT/LT on a controller to adjust them without them spinning. It’s very sensitive to double clicking.
If you use a mouse/keyboard on it then it will obviously work fine.
Best aircraft by far on Xbox and is an absolute pleasure to fly, but it’s crippled because of such silly reasons.
Would I have bought it anyway knowing this information? Probably, but I’m not a happy camper and I’m becoming less and less tolerant as time goes on.
Thanks for the heads up friend. I was hoping the planes would go on sale but looks like no.
Merry Christmas folks. Well I’d like to day that Santa brought me a 738 with all the liveries but it was me who caved and added them to my -700 collection. AA finally lol have to stop flying DL and pretending! While I look forward to the 777, mostly I enjoy flying with you all and learning more about how the 737s work and where we can take them BS/CTD free. Hope Santa is good to you and yours today and wish all good flying into the New Year. Cheers!
Anyone noticed the N1 / EGT gauge in the MFD now looks like it’s in segments?
I’m in the same boat as you. Plane is great…but I refused to fly it…and refuse to purchase anything else from PMDG. The outdated AIRAC cycle should have been made crystal clear in the plane’s marketplace description. An arrogant team that give too many excuses in order to continue milking the same old cow. I’d rather support other developers.
Agreed. The arrogance is unbelievable. If you dare question them on it, you’ll be immediately called out for it.
So it looks like they are going to be updating the liveries on xbox im wondering if theyll fix the ryanair (wrong color and correct tail logo)
Does this ‘update’ involve adding new liveries? Still a few 738 heavyweights missing, such as TUI, JAL, Transavia and GOL.
Apparently not mate
In that case, I can only interpret ‘update’ as improvements to some of the existing liveries, to make them more accurate. But the way the sim handles light is partially responsible for the inaccuracies, in that it generates a (presumably) deliberate ‘overexposed’ look in bright, low sunlight.
Hello everyone. Have any of you got the green sun visor to “work”? I can only hook it in but not move it. It just twitches a bit. At least not with the XBOX controller
Hi all, interesting reading through this thread as being new to the Xbox X the PMDG 737-800 was top of my list to pick up i am now a little hesitant mainly because of the Airac issue, i have a Navigraph subscription as i fly the A321 NEO by Toliss on XP11 and always keep that updated as very simple on PC.
I fly in and around UK and into Europe with the bus am i going to be frustrated with the PMDG 737 with the outdated Airac in terms of planning i guess i will be so my question is …do i buy it or not as it looks great and i prefer the more study level aircraft or is there a better option on xbox?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
As long as you don’t mind sorting your flightplans manually via the clunky MSFS world map, the PMDG is the best aircraft to fly on Xbox (in my opinion). I’ve never flown a real one (and likely never will!) but it just feels right.
It’s a shame PMDG are themselves a bit elitist and seem to use Xbox simmers as cash-cows to fund their PC enterprises. They claim to listen to the Xbox community but I have a hard time believing anyone specifically asked for SIX identical Ryanair liveries, a Cargoair hybrid (that’s probably already been repainted in real life) and a KLM that, due to its 100th anniversary markings, isn’t much use to anyone looking to do current, real-world flights.
Many, many livery requests have been made in their official forums but such requests (TUI, Transavia, JAL, Gol) are typically met with the attitude of, “that’s all you’re getting, and that’s that!”
All posts regarding Xbox are sneered at and the moderators there not only allow it but seem to endorse it! A real shame as their products are excellent. Unfortunately, if you want a study-level 737 in the sim, you’ve no alternative.
