PMDG 737 vs 777 in MSFS2024

As a fellow Xbox user, I can very much relate to this.

Purchased the 777 on release, perhaps a year ago? I forget. No liveries other than the base PMDG paint, and the texture bug on the wings persists (though there is a semi reliable work around through the ground menu).

Can I still enjoy the plane? Yes. Provided I stay within the cockpit and do not use external views, sure.

Is this acceptable after a year, considering this was such an expensive addon? Certainly not.

The frustration in this case is warranted, and I’d hazard a guess that if the same treatment were levied out to their PC based user base, we would never hear the end of it.

The PMDG 777 and 737 provide far the best flight experience on Xbox - the feeling I get flying the triple seven is the closest you can get to handling an authentic big jet on Xbox, as far as I’m concerned. The immersion is exceptional and very obviously a lot of very hard work has been put into achieving this - it’s the attention to fine detail that is missing in pretty much all of the stock aircraft that makes the PMDG aircraft so special.
To me, liveries and a few cosmetic details are much lower on my priority list than attention to the flight systems, aerodynamics and sounds. I’ve spent many thousands of miles flying the world on triple sevens and the PMDG sounds along with the attention to detail on systems mean that it feels I have a real one sitting in my living room.
Greatly appreciated by me - PMDG have brought us exceptionally sophisticated aircraft modelled to stud level on to the Xbox - with our memory limitations and made them exceptional performers when others said it couldn’t be done. I thank them for that….. Exceptional work - and they continue to value their Xbox customers very highly, which is appreciated by me at least.

Is Fenix available on the Marketplace? No, they’re not. So bringing them up in this context is disingenuous at best, and completely off-topic at worst.

Further, have you made a fully-developed high-fidelity aircraft and put it through the sim Marketplace ingestion process? If not, then perhaps you should listen to the aircraft developer and point your ire at MS and what their process is doing to mangle files.

It’s fine to be upset at a visual issue but taking over a thread just to post multiple rants is not an effective way to address your concerns, and it’s unfair to drown out the person who started the thread or those who have commented in good faith on the merits of the initial post.

I’ve never heard a company say that in any industry. They never take direct blame

If you look for bad press you’ll find it. I’ve had great experiences with every PMDG product I’ve ever bought. From marketplace and direct

Anyone who’s worked customer service knows the unhappy people are always the loudest. The satisfied people are all out flying

Spent too long around companies like PMDG then

So, resorting to insults rather than address the merits of the comments? Noted.

737, 777, love’em both. Loved them on my Series X; love them now on my PC!

Happy holidays, merry Christmas, and wishing all here a Happy New Year: Cheers!

Failed to read my response and understand i addressed your points by referencing other developers?

Noted.

Folks, a few posts were flagged and I’ve hidden a couple. I understand some of you are frustrated, but posts still need to be respectful and follow the forum’s CoC. Future posts that don’t comply may also be hidden or removed.

Edited as I was being grumpy

In your opinion, however if one wants to fly a 737 those design houses cannot help one as they have produced other airliners, and not a 737. And overpriced is a value judgement that you are stating over and over again here in a place where others have made different value judgements for themselves and their flight sim/gaming hobby purchases. More for less, less for more, all personal decisions. When I consider a DLC purchase for MSFS/24, I like many others want a specific aircraft model, not just a type or category like “jet aircraft.” Here folks want a Boeing, not an Airbus or RJ.

Merry Christmas and good flying into the New Year!

Fenix A320: $67.48 (bundle $121.46)
Ifly 73 max: $69.95
Just flight RJ pro: $69.99
Inibuilds A350: $80.96
Leo Maddog: $76.60

PMDG 738: $74.99

I’d say that’s right in line with the rest. They all had issues at launch

Performance for me is tough to say, I have a beefy machine with capped 60fps and I’m within 10% of that 95%+ of the time even at detailed airports. I was running the 2020 version on a different PC years ago so tough to say with the new setup how much is improved because everything has for me

Visuals IMO are great, I’m looking to upgrade to a 2K monitor or maybe 4k TV soon, currently running a 1080p 45"tv.

Sounds are fantastic through my cheap headphones with spacial audio. I was able to work out the location of an instrument making noise in the cockpit to about a 2ft diameter on the instrument panel just by moving the camera around and tracking where the sound was coming from.

Handling is where this is a step above pretty much every plane in the sim, ground handling is vastly improved. It doesn’t feel squirrelly on takeoff and landing, I was flying the Fenix A320 and A319 a lot before this was launched. Immediately after touchdown always felt like I was over correcting on a sheet of ice and never felt like there was much friction. The 738 is much much better in that regard.
I like to hand fly departure to 10k and sometimes to FL180 and she flies great, feels much better to me on approach than I remember the 2020 738 feeling.

Yes fair. Merry Christmas to you too and everyone else!

1440p or 4k is very demanding, DDR5 RAM is recommended and minimum 12GB for the GPU. Just buying another tv won’t do the trick unfortunately.

Apologies all, I have been a little needlessly grumpy in this thread. Tough week!

Hope you’re all well and apologies for being insulting to people.

My bad. You said beefy, i red goofy. Lol. Yeah you’ll be fine with that setup. I play on a 4k 65” OLED, the immersion is next level.

Earlier today, I took off from EGKK 08L and flew manually all the way to 10,000ft after passing KKE17 KKE25 DET at 5,000ft and FRANE at 6,000ft as per the chart, SID FRANE 1Z.
The wind was 070° to 090° with a speed of about 40 nt, but the PMDG 737-800 at 2024 was stable and excellent.
