Pmdg 737

Morning everyone just a quick question regarding the 737

I’m not interested in setting up the fmc etc so if I buy the pmdg 737 can I do the cold start like I can in the a320 aka turn apu on etc and get her started and will the flight plan from the world map already be loaded into the fmc ?

Thanks

No. It wont be loaded at least not on xbox. On PC I think you can import the flight plan from simbrief as a file or through the EFB.

You have to either manually setup the fp In the fmc or import it from simbrief. Even if you import it you still have to additionally configure the fmc to use the mcp for lnav / vnav etc

Ah man looks like I’ll have to learn how to use fmc then as any other aircraft on the market place is utter garbage

About a year or so ago, there are a bunch of YouTube videos from PMDG & 737NG driver that are well worth the time watching. Watch one or two at a time and then get into the airplane. Worth the time invested! I learned how to use the FMC and other stuff this way. And the manual on the PMDG site is also a great read/resource. You will be a better sim pilot for all the effort!

Mate, I was on the same boat coming from fsx and the classic GPS controlling every single aircraft…
I had to basically start from scratch and learn everything from new, I really didn’t want to but I did. …
So glad I did and it’s so rewarding… You can basically use you fms skills on any aircraft

As others have said whatever you do on the MSFS flight plan will not import to the 737 with one caveat being, MFSF ATC will use whatever SID, WP’s, STAR, and attempt to use the APP you have on the planning page. As far as setting up the FMC, after you do it once its a piece of cake. I highly recommend watching 737NG Driver. He has great tutorials.

I’ve watched a few videos so far and it doesn’t seem that bad using sim brief but can I use sim brief with series x ?

You can use to plan your flights - however, until the tablet is working properly on Xbox, you cannot load your flight plan details into the FMS automagically. You have to program your flights the old fashioned way (e.g. the same way they do/did it in the aircraft in real life for the past however many decades, lol.

Load in, enter your POS INIT details, program the RTE page and verify all the LEGS, enter your APP and DEP info; manually set your aircraft weight and fuel values, etc. Not onerous and honestly you should probably learn how to do all that stuff anyway.

But once Asobo figures out why their SDK lies when it says XBox and PC stuff works identically and fixes the issue for XBox folks, you’ll be able to load in most of that stuff via the Tablet from Simbrief, then import it into the FMS from the Tablet. You still have to enter APP and DEP data but that’s easy.
