Please don’t laugh at me now, but I have to ask a very naive question. - So far I have always traveled with the Boeing 747 (Microsoft / Asobo). I simply created a flight plan in Simbrief, loaded it into MSFS 2020 and off I go. I “can” fly according to a programmed flight plan and land by visual or ILS (manual and autoland) to a certain extent. But I haven’t got much further yet.
I’ve been practicing with the PMDG Boeing 737-900 for a short time now and I’m quickly realizing that it’s great, but it also requires more knowledge and a willingness to get to grips with it. (I have this willingness, so there will probably be more questions soon…)
After a bit of haggling and annoyance about the fact that you can’t simply load flight plans from Simbrief at PMDG directly via the world map in MSFS… I have now managed to load the flight plans from Simbrief via the FMC. So far, so good. - However, I was always used to the fact that loaded flight plans from the world map including landing path and indicated runway were shown on the navigation display at the end of the route. I’ve only ever landed on ILS runways, I’m not familiar with anything else (so far), apart from the landing challenges…
I have not (yet) seen anything else, apart from the landing challenges…
Unfortunately, this does not happen with the flight plans with the PMDG 737.The route is displayed, but the landing path and runway at the end are missing.- What am I doing wrong?- Do I have to adjust anything regarding the ILS?
Hey no worries one bit, learning new stuff is half the fun with this hobby. When the 737 came out I made a simmer-to-simmer manual for it, might wanna consider giving it a glance over. It adresses SID/STARs too.
I understand you use Simbrief, right? I’d recommend installing the following little add-on as well to ‘fetch’ your simbrief flightplan in the sim. Scroll all the way down in the app and it will list your SID (departure route) and STAR (arrival route), together with the runways Simbrief calculated for the flight.
You do not need any tool to get the flightplan in the simulator. Those functions have now all been incorporated into the Tablet. Read the tablet manual for instructions.
Mathijs is correct; however, when you import a route into the FMC the terminal procedures (DP, STAR and Approach) as well as runways are not included. These need to be entered manually into the CDU.
