Whilst I agree generally - the PMDG B777s are fabulous and highly detailed add-ons that provide a very immersive “big jet” feel, there have been issues since the SU4 beta. I suspect all the issues are tWASM related and also maybe some other performance optimising tweaks on Xbox (if the issues we see are different to PC)

On Xbox the Navigraph updates don’t work any more - same for many other aircraft - out of date navigation data is detected but the download hangs.

much more seriously, long in flight freezes occur on long haul sectors. I give an account of one with my settings here : WASM Crashes in PMDG 777 since SU4 Beta .21 build - #23 by Stendec341
I followed this up last night with a KATL-EGLL sector ( slightly shorter) and this time to eliminate a few causes, I turned off PG and uninstalled (edit - disabled, they were streamed) all of the city packs. The first freeze (20s) happened around 22 minutes after rotation at 26000ft - perfectly smooth and fluent until then - I then got the next stutter 5 mins later but this time it continued for over a minute and I exited the fllight,
Not an IT pro - but I am a test engineer so my conclusions (edit -so far )are
- not a scenery pack or addon problem
- Points toward a degradation over time so most likely related to cpu/memory management and WASM interactions.
if anyone with IT expertise (Xbox) has suggestions for a further test run, please let me know and I’ll run it.
I’m spending more time back in MSFS2020 rather than 2024 as flying the PMDG 777 aircraft on my Series X is perhaps the very best experience on MSFS if you want to capture the feeling of handling a big jet…. It’s an easy trade. A lot was broken in the SU4 beta - and what’s worse is that the mess was left to our third party developers to pick up after the release….
Hope some of this is useful..
