PMDG Boeing 777 for Xbox

Yeah I get all that but lets have the option like we do in the Inibuilds A300 tablet. As I said the MSFS sliders have no effect on wind noise, one would think cockpit or environment sound slider would be the sliders but they aren’t. This sound is cemented into the 777. Hopefully we see sound packs on Xbox for it and hopefully the hotkey for headphone simulation works in 2024

I was hesitant to purchase the 777 as I’m running a series S but thought what the heck see how it goes.

EGLL TO FACT with everything 100% and got some way through set up before BS at the stand a couple of times. Switched live traffic off and lowered most density settings to 50% or 0% on the ones that don’t matter.

Got through setup, taxing and take off without any BS or stutters but LOD was worse than I’ve ever seen around an airport.

Got about as far as the end of the SID and went into the EFB to change from the chart back to the route and then got the dreaded CTD.

I will say however I was very impressed with the depth and functionality of the 777 and fully understand the memory resources available to the series S are the issue and it has nothing whatsoever to do with PMDG.

I’ll give it another go in the morning somewhere in the Middle East, as I seem to have better luck flying out there and fingers crossed I might get to try out a descent and landing.

I will likely upgrade to a series X once SU16 is/if released and sorts out the memory allocation issue.

I’ll end by saying that the level of depth with the PMDG 777 is well worth the money!

I used to have ctd on Series X with the 777 but they stopped when I started using 16gb rolling cache.

First of all, the plane is amazing, thank you PMDG.

It’d be great if we could bind engine starters and fuel cutoff switches via MSFS settings, as we don’t have software like spad.next on Xbox.

Supporting reverse on the same axis as throttle would be nice, too. Not realistic indeed, but lets people fully use their existing hardware like TCA Airbus Throttle.

Longer flight time today. OMDB to KMIA with the same settings as per my previous post.

Got to within 2000 miles of KMIA then got a CTD again, whilst interacting with the EFB zooming out on the Navigraph route.

Qué sera!

The only time I’ve had CTD with the PMDG products is when I’m interacting with the moving map on the EFB. I think it takes a LOT of memory to run the map. Try your next flight without using the map (just close it and leave the tablet on the home screen). See if you have any issues with CTD. It should help the LOD and stutters as well.

Hello, I’m in the S series at the moment and I’ve found that in certain places on the map, usually the big cities, I can’t fly without black screens, so most of the time I go to small towns or countries, more specifically those in the south. In another case, I have screens or CTDs at airports that I always buy in large cities. As for the pmdg777, I don’t regret having bought it. It took me 2 days to learn how to use it and there were certain things that I found I should never do again, such as using the zoom function on the tablet. You can use the tablet and do all the searches you want on it, but only use the map zoom if you’re fed up with a journey and then you’re sure to come back to your xbox home screen.

Almost Everytime I fly the 777 I get the insufficient fuel warning so I thought why not take it wherever I want topping up the fuel mid flight
NY KJFK to Singapore WSSS currently the longest passenger flight on earth.
100% fuel 30% payload came up 1tonne efob at arrival so the plane theoretically can make it.
But once airborne this all changed and got far worse with autocruise enabled. I had to fill up mid flight more than once, probably having to add at least 80% more fuel on top of the 100% on departure. Was interesting adding fuel and being too high I was flying at FL330 for at least 60% of the flight
Until the issue is resolved I’m going to fill her up 100% everytime for long hauls because she feels so much nicer underload on departure

Same. I am on an XSX and had a CTD 10 hours into a 14 hour flight out of EGLL. I was fiddling with the moving map at the time. I don’t use it now and just use my iPad for charts and looking at the route. Shame not to have the MM element though.

Enjoying the 77W so much I purchased the Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke & Throttle pack today… Flying her with a stick just feels so wrong - looking forward to setting it up over the weekend

It’s the same on the XSX in some airports. Athens and Vegas (Both FlyTampa) are the only two that have caused it, but in both of these I have had black screens… Once before departure when looking around Athens with the drone cam, and after landing into KLAS (Flying in from Paris).

@TheFalconOne any update on the extra livery packs for the 777 on Xbox  ?

I have made a note about that, thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, we are a bit behind on that, mainly due to the 777F being close to beta. Sorry.

This remains an elusive issue. We know it exists, but it does not always happen when time accel is used. We will see if Asobo can shed some light on this.

No worries  good to know they are being worked on

When PMDG staff fly their own 777-300ER on Xbox, using Simbrief, which Airframe do they use?

  • Default, or
  • PMDG (MSFS) - Standard Config [credit: Awemeter]

This is the default airframe:

This is the PMDG (MSFS) Awemeter airframe:

Do the differences account for the insufficient fuel warnings?

We only use the default one and have never tested the other one.

Oh… and do the internal values used by the PMDG 777-300ER calculations match the SimBrief “Default” profile for…

  • Max Passengers
  • Passenger Weight (individual)
  • Baggage Weight (individual)
  • Empty Weight
  • Max Fuel Capacity
  • Max Cargo Weight
  • Fuel Factor

As said, our model is only tested with that one, but yes the values should match. Like a pilot we do not care a lot about how many passengers or bags there are on board as only the total weight matters for the flight crew, but many tens of thousands of flights have been planned with that profile.

Actually, pilots DO care about the exact number of passengers in real life… Regardless, I’m trying to solve a problem, so if possible I would like the numbers used in the SimBrief AirFrame to MATCH whatever PMDG is actually using for internal numbers to do calculations.

Can you verify that PMDG is calculating individual passenger weight as 175 lbs (vs the default MSFS 170 lbs)? And baggage is 55 lbs?

PMDG stands for Precision Manuals Development Group - so I’m hoping for precise numbers and details if at all possible!

Thanks as always
