PMDG Douglas DC-6

PMDG getting closer to arriving in MSFS…this is brilliant news indeed.

I watched that starting engines tutorial on the DC-6…have to agree seeing piston engines start without belching smoke is pretty anticlimactic

ve want the two, so just you…

Wonder what it will do to framerates though :crossed_fingers:

Looking forward to this and hoping it has the same smile-inducing effect as the A2A Connie brought me in past sims. The feeling is different with those big old birds from the golden age of aviation and the complexity of fine tuning those large prop engines is part of that experience.

This news made me so happy! Can’t wait to fly again some of their wonderful products! I will start putting every day some euros in my pig and save some money because their products are just excellent

P3D version was 70$. I am afraid, this will cost about the same.

This looks very tempting, I guess one has to think how much of time you have for the sim, and is the price (what ever it will be) justified and reasonable from that point.

When PMDG started I was one of the first to buy their products. Weren’t the 737’s somewhere in the range of 30-50 dollars? Times have changed of course but I hope they can keep the price low because of the larger user base and sales they could have on the MSFS platform.

Some news for developing addons for MSFS

Little Summary:

• No “Port Overs”, they have a fully new development process

• They will bring the entire PMDG-Series to MSFS (DC-6, 737, 747, 777)

• They want to release DC-6 and 737 THIS YEAR

• Maybe the 777 also this year but maybe in spring 2022

• The DC-6 is already in test over the past months

• DC-6 should be released in june 2021

PMDG? $30-$50??? I don’t think so. It takes WAY more to develop their products to the level they do. This isn’t Aerosoft (who isn’t bad, they just aren’t on the same level)

Based on their prior pricing, DC-6 will probably be $70. 737 may be about $99 for the base model and $29 for expansions. 777 and 747 $140 for base model and $30-70 for expansions.

That’s their range. It will probably stay there (as it should… charging any less will be underpricing them, at least in my opinion)…

yes please give

I guess this has changed as they were originally saying they couldn’t release for MSFS as they couldn’t get their old tech to work. Eventually they caved in, and had to embrace the SDK as it is, instead of persuading Asobo to cater to porting over their old tech.

I guess that’s a win for us.

More one DC-6? I would prefer an L-188 of then.

It will be really cool when we get all these extra effects. It’ll be great when helicopters come natively to the sim and the downdraft from the rotors actually has an effect on the environment. Dust and laves blowing about and all that sort of thing.

Have the mentioned their VR experience with this product?

Not now, I said when they began. I remember my first add-on for FS was a 737-400, Justflight I think? Then came PMDG and it could be the expansions we’re 30 dollars but I thought when I bought the first 737NG they were something around 50-60 dollars. Nevertheless the 737NG now priced at 99 dollars would be nice but wouldn’t surprise me if it was much higher.

The tutorials are fantastic. I’ll bet we will have smoke at some point in time.

I guess it’s a good thing I really don’t have much interest in the hair dryers. I like heavies, but I’d prefer something like the Connies. I’d also love to see something like a 314 Clipper, but I doubt that will happen.

“Robert i$ already taking a clo$er look at thi$ $imulator” perhaps with the same crazy prices given that his days on Xplane, where his star products never existed, added to the decline of P3D, force him to re-project himself.
Let’s not forget that he was one of the detractors of MSFS when it was released.

gotta have smoke effects for any large radial engine - it’s their trademark
If they aren’t smoking, they aren’t running - period
