When entering these waypoints manually in the FPL, I cannot select the cursor anymore after the last waypoint is entered. Sometimes it occurs already one waypoint before that. It is when the page is full. Pushing the PUSH CRSR knob does nothing. So also not possible to scroll through the flightplan.
After entering EYENE and adding it as a waypoint (the last entry that will fit on the screen, without a scroll), it then is not possible to Scroll, or add another waypoint
The last WP should be EPENE (not EYENE) but that does not make any difference.
Even if I create the FP in LNM and then import it, then I cannot bring up the Cursor, and move through it ..if it is as big as , or longer than will fit on the screen.
I was just about to add
You can still edit the FP in the GNS430, and if you use the 430 to remove waypoints, as soon as there is a free WP line on the 530, the 530 becomes responsive again, and you can turn on its cursor.
Congratulations on making “Trusted 3rd Party Developer” – you truly deserved that.
Ver 25: Fantastic way to start the weekend …
Ref: The 4 maps limitation. Well done in finding a work around.
Apart from the CTD, wrt the only 4 Maps, is this now a limitation that should be highlighted to Asobo, or with the correct techniques, is 4 maps a reasonable limitation ?
Can you see any reason to limit to 4 maps (performance etc), or is 4 just an arbitrary limit that SHOULD be increased by Asobo as a real need by developers. ?
Maybe, now there is no longer a MAP limitation, for those that fly in a plane with only the GNS430, the 430 could also have the option to display the Weather Radar. ?
That would effectively make all the Nav pages be the same in number & features, in both the GPS’s ??
Even in the C172, I found myself wanting to us the Bigger GNS530 for my main navigation etc, while having the smaller GNs430 display more situational awareness info, like Terrain, or weather.
I realize the weather radar is a “Sim feature” and not RW, but if the 530 can’t have it, why can’t the 430.
Took a quick flight with Ver 25 .. The GNS530 MOD really does "makes’ the C172 so enjoyable to fly.
in most cases this will not be a problem but it may be if we have several different map intruments in the cockpit.
As a n example, image that I implement the TCAS small map in the data section of the GNS504/430 map page (see the GNS530 documentation, this exists in the RW 530). I will then have to add a new map for this instrument so it will have 2 maps.
In case of dual conbination 530/430, we’ll then have 4 maps.
What about if an aricraft manufacturer uses this dual combination and another instrument like a separate weather radar? Direct CTD.
The default king air already uses 4 maps. If there is a need of another map (ex procedure map) displayed in the same time → CTD.
So this is still an issue, even if it’s less urgent.
And for redundancy! Looking at the Carenado planes with just the single 530, that’s a lot of eggs to put into that one basket. I can’t see doing that IRL.
If I were shoehorning a 530 into a Mooney or Seminole panel IRL, I’d find somewhere to put a 430 (or something) if for no other reason than avoiding having just one of anything. That’s one reason I don’t consider the “VFR map” to be “cheating”, it’s no different than having a handheld GPS in your pilot’s bag, which I did even back in the day when something like a GNS530 was somebody’s wet dream. Even an old school B&W VFR only text based panel mount GPS was something most planes didn’t have, and some even still had LORANs.
At least us old guys were smart enough to know that the only thing the ADF was good for was listening to AM radio and as a poor-man’s lightning finder. Or maybe that just means I’m not quite firmly in the “old guy” category, which in truth I’m not. Though when I was a child, I might have said otherwise lol…
Wouldn’t that be a cool feature to add to the ADF, if you put it on the right frequency, you could tap into the radio station’s online stream, and the pointer would point to their broadcast antenna.
Though I expect most handhelds today are much more advanced than the “VFR Map” in the sim.
So we have what planes using these in FS2020 land?
The steam 172 has both, the 2 Carenado planes have just a 530, 3-4 others with “just” a 430, a few with nothing but VORs and the “handheld”, and the rest of the fleet with G1000s, 3000s, or full blown FMSs? Did I get that list more or less right?
That would be very cool, and an idea MOD for someone to develop.
I remember flying a old beech Sundowner that has a Loran, At the time , it was State of the Art.
Also, like you, I use to take a non-aviation Garmin handheld with me when I rented planes without a GPS. I even loaded it up with local Airports & Vors – saved my bacon Busting DCA airspace a few times, looking for W00.
Was nice to be able to bring it home, and then download the plot to a Chart, just to see where I went ‘astray’
