REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Xbox, SP5 (in my case 1.7.28.0 Beta)

  2. photogrammetry off (I don’t think this makes any difference if POI’s appear or not)

  3. go there (instead you see a generic building)

Sorry, I thought the O2 was also one of the many handcrafted POIs in London. In that case, it obviously only works with photogrammetry enabled. Thanks!

Moved to User Support Hub since a solution has been marked.

I’m sure it used to be a handcrafted POI. I’ve never used PG but remember seeing the dome while flying over London. Unfortunately I’ve no screen shots saved to prove this.

I concur that there definitely used to be a proper model of the O2 without PG. Not 100% sure when I last saw it but for sure at a number of points in SU5 Beta. In my particular case I have Orbx UK South and Orbx London City pack loaded, so I disabled them both and I see this AI generated generic building. If I switch on PG I do indeed see the O2 as stated above. If I put back Orbx UK South and I still see a generic building with no PG. If I then put back Orbx London city pack the generic building is removed and there is nothing in its place. I have the Orbx London City Pack as highest priority in the package reorder tool and the fact that the generic building disappears after I enable it does indicate that it is acting as top priority and trying to put something there. This city pack has not had any updates I am aware of in recent history so I am guessing what might be going on is that the ability to draw the O2 based on the data in the city pack is now failing in some way possibly due to a change withing the recent SU5 release.

I don’t fully understand how PG works but I had thought that it draped an image of the object over the already existing model of the object. In this case the PG looks good but the object underneath changes from the big generic building to what I assume must be the correct O2 shaped object. I may have this totally wrong so please do correct me if so.

The O2 is indeed listed as a POI:

I don’t know the logic behind POIs. They all should be visible even if photogrammetry OFF ?. Or do some POIs are handcrafted and others not handcrafted so just available with photogrammetry ON ?

The O2 was definitely handcrafted before, so something has changed.

Should this thread be moved back to the bug reporting section?

The custom model of the O2 has definitely been removed from MSFS2024. It is still there in 2020.

That is the problem and it has not been solved.

What is seen with photogrammetry on is photogrammetry - inferior to the custom model.

I’m a beta tester with ORBX - we deliberately avoided providing a model of the O2 in our London Landmarks scenery because it was already there!

All the best,

John

Could this be the same issue as here: Christ the Redeemer needs to be recovered to what it was before update ?
In this case the hand crafted POI was also removed. It now is only visible in the nativ PG data → less detail!

This bug report is still valid and should not be marked as solved!! The O2 had a handcrafted POI model but now it is missing in MSFS 2024. The POI in question showed up whether photogrammetry was on or off. Can you please note posts after your decision to reclassify this bug as solved and reinstate it as a current bug? Thanks!

Moved back to Bug Reporting Hub since as per some comments O2 hand crafted POI was there in a previous version with photogrammetry OFF. I am also trying to get further information about POIs behavior having photogrammetry OFF.

Glad to hear this problem is now classified as bug again. Thanks for being responsive.

Thanks for moving this back to being an active bug.

Custom POI’s should appear with Photogrammetry either on or off.

They just need to exclude any underlying photogrammetry or buildings. Otherwise you get conflicting structures. The O2 arena POI was doing this fine until removed!

All the best,

John

This appears to be fixed in SU5.1 public release (photogrammetry off).

SU5.1 (Public Release) - photogrammetry on. The O2 is still a problem. Looks like a handcrafted O2 POI and a photogrammetry image of the O2 are clashing with each other. I think the underlying O2 photogrammetry is not being excluded in favor of the better looking handcrafted O2 POI.
