On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, how would you globally rate this update? (This question will be used as a reference between each update)
There is a severe performance bug in 2024 with the Amsterdam and Rotterdam area of the photogrammetry. The FPS drops massively on certain view angles of the city from 80 to 30 FPS in my case and stays that low.
All other PG Citys in the update run just fine and i even get 2.5x more FPS with New York + Samscene 3D New York City Times… same with Tokio etc.
I activated City Update 14 (Netherlands and Belgium). In the photogrammetry areas, I’m experiencing a 20–30 FPS performance drop across all regions covered by today’s update. This represents a very severe performance degradation. The drop is noticeable even at higher altitudes above these areas, and there are constant micro-stutters despite running the simulator on a high-end PC. Unfortunately, this city update appears to be very poorly optimized.
In Eindhoven and Brugge i dont get the problem with 9800x3D and 5080. But in Amsterdam and Rotterdam its a stuttery mess now with more than 50% Performance loss.
I noticed that my GPU usage had dropped to around 60–70%. Then I exited the simulator, restarted my system, and deleted the rolling cache. After the restart, the GPU is now running at 100% utilization again, and as a result, the performance drop has been resolved.
I wouldnt be so sure. Try to fly very low around “Westerkerk” Church in Amsterdam. I also deleted my rolling cache and nothing got better here.I also dont get any performance Problems in other PG Citys than this.
Stutterwise for me its the other way around. It improved quite a lot, especially Rotterdam.
On the other hand Iam quite disappointed about the update. I expected some nice updates of Rotterdam and Den Haag since some crucial landmarks (especially for VFR flights) were missing or not finished in the sim:
Scheveningen with its harbour, pier and famous Kurhaus not displayed
Rotterdam airport new fire department (finished 2020) and Rotterdamse aeroclub building (finished 2021)
The tallest building (215 meter) in the Netherlands (Zalmhaventoren, Rotterdam; finished since 2022) is still in its construction phase in the sim
The A16 around Rotterdam airport (finished last year) is also still under construction in the sim
I found the problem for me. It was the ship traffic on ultra causing this and bugging around with the ships stuttering and hanging in the canals of Amsterdam. After setting this to Medium its smooth now. But this is still a bug that should be solved.
Performance in Amsterdam and Rotterdam is very very bad i noticed… seems to be a bug or something. Other City from the Update are running fine also Big PG Citys like Tokio and Sao Paulo.
Are you comparing performance in Amsterdam and Rotterdam now with previous experience in the other cities or have you tried those now as well? Just wondering if you’re possibly experiencing the server slow downs we normally experience when users are downloading and using new releasees en masse.
I thought at first it might a problem with my installation or my system but it was not. I even cleared the rolling cache and i have great performance in the biggest PG Citys also with the rest of the PG City of CU14. It must be some kind of bug in Amsterdam/Rotterdam. Brugge and Eindhoven run fine for example.
It would cause unloaded parts of the scenery and big LOD Problems with the PG Data… but no drops from 80 FPS to 30 FPS which stay for a longer time while looking in a certain direction of the city.
I just purchased the EHAM airport recently and found on Flightsim.to addons that improve the scenery west of the airport. That addon is very massive. I had terrible performance trying to take off from EHAM today after installing the new city update and I’m seriously wondering if I should disable that addon and try again. What makes me doubt that is that clearly others are having the same issue and, unless they have that same Flightsim.to addon, the cause is something else, either a bug in the new city update or just server lag.
I only have the vanilla Asobo EHAM Airport and i get the problem. It also could be from Bijans Season Mod … but i doubt that since everything else runs fine. I suppose it might an LOD overcount error in the PG.
PC did a hard reset flying over EHAM Schiphol. A power surge the PSU couldn’t handle. Never had that before. Lots of stutters area Amsterdam, Rotterdam, low and high altitude, slow and fast, GA or airliner. No add ons used, new RC. Area north/next to EHRD still a construction site but is irl finished. So the cars are still driving through the sandy construction site.
