Xbox series X. Here’s my approach into Geneva last night as my first flight on the released SU5.1. Terrain LOD just keeps popping and the draw distance is the worst it’s ever been. I’m not convinced that power grid problems were to blame here as that wouldn’t be simulated :joy:

Any chance you’re using Parallel 42 Flow Pro? If so, do you have the latest version installed?

Does pressing “F” work?

Still plagued by these annoying stutters and mainthread spikes when panning the camera.

As long as I am not moving buttery smooth.

And this is happening on high settings preset with a 9800X3D, 5070 TI, 64GB DDR5, quite ridiculous IMO…

So the bad first:

Just spent 2 hours at 2 large airports with default live traffic and not a single plane pushes back from a gate nor takes off. Many land and taxi around for several minutes and then despawn. Had one plane back out of a gate and then it despawned just as it reached a taxiway. Both traffic and parked planes on ultra.

Fired up AIG at it works fine with planes departing and landing so I’m assuming if others seeing the same thing it is another ‘Asobo’ fix? Maybe relates to the 3rd party push back they mentioned in release notes?

Realtime ship traffic still jumps from one spot to the other. Come on Asobo, it can’t be hard surely..

However now the good:

The biggest thing now in flight that I notice is the terrain and lod look the best I have seen 2024 look ever. I know one day can differ from the next (we have all seen that) but the sim just seems cleaner and clearer. Keen if others see any difference?

First time I opened sim I had neither live traffic nor parked planes. I needed to restart the sim to see either. Hope that you see same after a restart.

So far glass avionics in CJ4 is behaving on PS5.

Sensitivity of the clickspots with the mouse is poor. I have to keep scrolling before the blue highlights. It also only highlights when close in on say the largerknobs like the HDG scroll knob.
Obviously the smaller ones you have to be closer in.

When you are taking off and trying to activate the AP and Yaw it causes problems with a mouse and a Hotas4. Need more hands :wink: :joy:

So we can now use Mamudesign Powerlines and Project Lifts without stuttering and freezes?

MSFS 2024 SU 5.1 (Steam) hangs/freezes in the mission screen for some specific missions. The screen freeze and game process in task manager shows a few percents of CPU usage and 0% GPU. Then i can only kill it in task manager as it doesn’t react. I’m on Windows 11 latest update. This have never happened in SU 5.0 or before.

Just had to reduce my vote a bit on stability. Third flight ended with a CTD 4 miles out from inibuilds Leeds EGNM runway 14 in the PMDG 737-800

Also autopilot in Airbus A321LR in Career Mode is broken - after skipping Alt-N to the destination, aircraft teleports near destination airport, AP1 and A/THR are always enabled, but it doesn’t react on manual altitude change (pulling alt knob) and sometimes drops ALT mode and starts to dive/climb without reason. Sometimes HDG knob doesn’t react on pulling and doesn’t start turning to the set heading. Autothrottle often fails and doesn’t keep the speed despite green SPEED indicator on PFD. But AP1 and A/THR indicators remain green in these cases.

Please test and fix this bugged AP behavior after skips in Career Airline missions. During tests change sim rate to slowest and then back to normal while changing speed, altitude and heading knobs.

Also, in Su 5.1, sometimes in the finished mission screen my aircraft crashes from the above, bounces from the ground and breaks landing gear. This never happened in SU 5 or before.

some noticable improvement when panning around the cockpit in various Black Square and FlightFx aircraft. Smooth flights … maybe a microstudder here and there. nothing to get in a tizzy about… one flight in the TBM 850 from KTEB to KFRG. The other in the Citation X from RPLL to VHHH (Hong Kong has some lousy looking default scenery). Bottom line, I noticed a smooth taxi and landing…occassional microstudder on a quick novice turn on a taxiway here and there, but i’ll accept that as my fault and not the sims :rofl: overall SU5.1 4/5 (i rated SU5 3.5/5).

Plovdiv to Ifrane in CJ4, PS5, VIP Career mode. No avionics resetting. Behaved all the way so far - 45 mins from TOD.

Ground textures a bit mushy and blurry but maybe 40,000ft has something to do with that.

No stuttering, no freezes, flew through weather/clouds which topped out at about 40100ft so just the tops of the clouds.

Distant clouds appear rather like cotton puffs or altocumulus.

Same here. Also when i start Missions it says … “Problem with Airport detected” and i am teleported right away to the runway

SU4 for comparison I would rate 8.5/10

XBox X, A320N, 32GB RC. I normally fly streamed all content but this time I downloaded scenery, aircraft and airports where I was flying. Two flights LSZH - LQSA and LQSA - LSZH (restarted sim between flights)

The good

  • Smooth performance (minor and infrequent stutter happened 4-5 times in two sessions but acceptable),
  • weather simulation looks good,
  • Integration between Simbrief, FMS and EFBs on A320 is good (some minor issues)
  • scenery from high altitude looks good

The Bad

  • LOD - really bad especially around Zurich. Central Europe Scenery looked (performed) better. However, not near as good looking as what it was in some earlier versions. In respect to Central Europe world scenery, I am glad I recorded a joy flight back in msfs2020 flying around Sarajevo City (LQSA) in Cesna172 and it looked so good that another person who was watching video with me thought it was real footage. Outbound flight LSZH - LQSA I had ATC ON (and flight plan submitted). It didn’t impact performance. The return leg LQSA - LSZH tried without ATC and I was hoping to see improved scenery graphics on arival to LSZH but it made no obvious difference and scenery around Zurich looked shocking. Especially disappointing that the Zurich City Centre buildings never fully formed up when on final approach RWY34. Some of the historical releases of the msfs2024 had better LOD. < regression from SU4 and some earlier releases

  • IMMERSION - Traffic movements on ground and the whole traffic and ATC needs rework. I know that was not part of 5.1 update. Hopefully that’s on to do list for future updates. Traffic behaviour on ground, the fact that it is ignoring player and taxing / crashing through it, the ATC voices, the way they respond, variety of voices, speed of responses and also dialect is a bit outdated and doesn’t feel authentic. < old issue but more of a hope that this will be redesigned

  • MENU WINDOWS (in game) e.g. ATC the size of it, sometimes pointer (circle and dot) doesn’t highlight the desired menu option on the list and you need to move the window around the screen or pan camera to try and and get the pointer to highlight the option. < old issue that in some releases was better then others

  • AIRCRAFT SPECIFIC - A320 TERR still not working (but it worked in SU3 from memory). Cockpit Windshield glass is too dirty/scratched, wipers not removing water; It maybe time to revisit A320 / A321 / A330 end to end and do a few improvements although I score it high. All three aircraft are virtually the same from the perspective of cockpit equipment and instrumentation but all 3 aircraft have individual issues in msfs2024. < old issues with the hope of review and refresh

Stability is much better small stutters on rotation at EGLL expected with the crazy amount of AI aircraft at the airport.

3rd party citation X EFB causing CTD but was not causing CTD in beta (Could be linked to the weight problems that the p180 was getting and the dev had to disable weight adjustment for ps5) i will chase that up with them also just incase.

Disabled my AP on the yoke with my mouse in the CJ4 at minimums on finals. All of a sudden all the avionics switched off as well! Imagine my surprise, I could not stop to fault find at 300ft AGL so had to fly to runway without any avionics,…butter smooth landing without any!! :joy: :+1:

Anyway, besides that, one should not be able to switch the avionics off through the yoke which is what happened I found out. Can’t say if this is a before or after 5.1, it has never happened before.
