[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 5.1 Feedback (PC/Xbox/PS5)

Why the career Mode isn´t tested properly? After every Flight the aircraft is falling from the sky to the ground and sinks under the ground when displaying Mission Scores… do the Testers and Asobo only test Free Flight?

Downloaded Sim Update 5.1 final but you still cant select “configure” with a mouseclick when you want to configure an aircraft. You have to select F from the keyboard..I thought SU5.1 would solve this, but no

This isn’t a sim bug, it’s an addon conflict. Remove or update any third party addons you have which modify the UI and the issue will be resolved.

F works to get Configuration

I dont know of any addon that modifies the Ui.

its a basic program function.

And this configure did function in SU4. So it has nothing to do with addons. I have read that it was a bug to be solved in SU5.1.

But besides that my Thrustmaster input profile is totally messed up.I have to check everything now.. Does anyone has the same?

This was a bug introduced during the SU5 beta (typically related to Flow and other UI mods) but resolved. I am on PC and just confirmed selecting Configure with a mouse is functional.

I can assure you this is an addon conflict. Try a session in the sim with all addons disabled and you’ll see. The most common cause of the error is //42’s Flow, but they released an update during the SU5 beta to fix it. Other addons that have been known to cause this issue are addons from places like flightsim.to that remove the VRAM memory alert, hide the toolbar in flight, etc.

First impressions of SU5.1 are very good on Xbox series X. I’ve only done a few flights in the PMDG 738, but they have been smooth and good LOD too even with ATC and filing a flight plan. When the final beta build was released I wasn’t too impressed as I was getting stutters on final approach and very blurry textures. But I’m still convinced something was changed between that build and the public SU5.1 because everything improved virtually overnight. I would now say performance and visuals are actually slightly better than SU4. This is the first time in ages I’m actually really enjoying 24 again, and it’s slowly but surely becoming the sim that we all want it to be. 9/10 for me.

Cesna 172 undemanded control inputs. in nearly all SU 5 beta builds, I noticed frequent elevator trim nose up uncomended inputs, it is still present in final release, not a game changer but annoying to say the least. nose up trim goes from 1% to sometimes over 78& in a heartbeat, forcing some drastic control inputs from me. Not sure if thisis a bug or not, but I will continue to monitor it.

PC Store.

Win 11, Ryzen 5 5600X, ROG STRIX B550F, 32 GB DDR4, RX9060XT 16 GB.

Do you have any assists enabled?

So interesting. MS stated that nothing has changed between final beta build and public release. Great you’re getting better visuals. I’m not experiencing anything different from the beta builds, with the blurry apron/taxiway/runway still in play and poor TLOD. Not sure what accounts for such disparities in experience between simmers.

So much is server related/dependent with this game.

On Xbox it’s mainly the aircraft. If you are the A350 guy from the performance thread, then there’s your explanation. Fly anything that doesn’t strain the memory and you’ll mostly get a decent experience.

Unfortunately, the memory management that causes the terrain blurring (disappearing PG/autogen tiles, small tree circle, poor draw distance…) saved the Xbox version and also destroyed it at the same time (it’s the reason why there’s no longer a viable Xbox community on Youtube). When it’s set to be this aggressive, the sim just isn’t a showcase product anymore. I would be willing to suffer some instability to avoid this, but I do realize that the average user probably wouldn’t understand why the screens go dark or the sim CTDs under heavy load.

Did you do anything after the final build.

How much RC are you using and did you reset?

Are you filing ATC plans and what are, if any other add-ons are you using?

I’m not finding this to be the case so far.

SU4 it’s what brought me back to MSFS after SU16 on 2020 ruined it for me. I observed your vocal testing during this beta, and I was experiencing very similar. Quite frankly, I got burnt out because I feel like we did this song and dance in 2020 so many times. (There’s several former Xbox users that are now on PC for this exact reason.) After the launch of 2024, I didn’t have much hope until SU4. I once again invested in many marketplace purchases and was really enjoying it again.

The severe LOD and terrain popping in and out has not improved for me. I just don’t understand why we can all have such different experiences, but yet sometimes the same.

I reset my RC, multiple full reboots, not using ATC or live traffic… etc., etc. I’ve been on this since Xbox launched and it’s been a roller coaster. When it’s good, it’s so good…. But when it’s bad…

Attached is what I got on my latest test. Again, I don’t wanna sound like a broken record, which is why I stopped commenting on SU4 betas.

I haven’t given up yet though… call me crazy, but I’ve seen what it could be and I’m still hopeful.

Maybe it’s a placebo effect but 5.1 feels so much better than SU5 on my PC (RTX 5070, Ryzen 7700, 32 GB RAM). I do use 2X FG but where I used to have FG FPS at 80, it’s now gone up to 120. Seeing fewer of those memory usage popups when I’m at handcrafted airports as well. I do notice the pop-in from scenery streaming more often, not sure if I’m imagining things, or if my internet is the issue, or if the sim is deliberately slowing down streaming which explains some of the performance improvements. Either way, not a huge issue since things tend to look pretty good within a few seconds of noticing, and frankly I’d take that compromise (if it really is the case).

One thing that really bothers me is stuttering especially when I’m panning around and that seems to be gone entirely. So that’s a huge improvement in my book.

So far, I can’t say anything bad after the final update of the main version of the game. Everything seems to be fine, the stability is good, and the connection is stable.

However, there are few items available in the PS5 store.
