I honestly don’t know why it suddenly improved for me. I went back to 2020 last week for a few days as I was getting really fed up of the blurry runways and landing stutters. But then on the Friday evening I thought I would do a long haul in the A350. I took off from Heathrow and flew to Haneda. As soon as I’d left Heathrow I noticed an improvement in LOD and overall smoothness, and flight went without any major issues.
The next day, I did some more flights but in the 737, and again had noticed that the LOD and draw distance before going blurry was much better. On previous flights I would just have a very small square of detail underneath the aircraft and everything outside of this square would be blurry. I’m also not getting major stutters when panning around the cockpit either or on external view.
I’m wasn’t using ATC for any of those flights which does seem to improve performance and LOD, but last night I did do a flight with a flight plan filed and ATC use, and it didn’t have as much of an effect as during the beta. I did clear my cache last week, but this has never made much of an improvement previously. I’m using 16GB by the way. I have quite a lot of addons, but they are mostly just airports and aircraft.
I honestly don’t know what changed between last week and the weekend, but nothing had changed on my end. This is why I was convinced that tweaks had been made server side. Before Friday I was having the same poor experience as you, and I hope you get an improvement soon.
On both though - and more so on Xbox - I’m seeing (or not seeing) some invisible traffic. They’ll have a nameplate, appear on the traffic display, even set off a TCAS alert, but never spawn a 3D model even up close.
Yes, same here. Quite a lot of it (as a % of overall traffic). This is not using anything but in-sim default traffic. Nameplates are there but no aircraft.
The only complaint that I still have is that filing a flight plan and using ATC still causes stutters and reduces LOD. I really hope this gets fixed with SU6.
Free Flight is way better, no avionik Crashes, stable an run very smooth. On Big Airports sometimes little stutter but it is okay.
Landscape is a little bit blurry, but better this, than performance impacts.
Career Mode is also way better in terms of Performance, avionik works fine.
But its Bugt as hell,… dont skip Flights, it ends in a Crash most of the time, here a Quick Video to show the problem. At least the Plane has get no damage, and no reputation Lost.
Today in CJ4, PS5, I’M inputting data into the cdu and it disappears, simple things like the destination runway which I then have to put in again.
Got to a waypoint and it started wandering off on its own heading, which was not on. The next waypoint was not some far off distant one either, it’s the real one on the plan, I checked.
So different today from yesterday and I think the only thing that changed was the 172 in the MP.
Did they add something else because I got another install message before starting
Test flight from LIMC to LFMN using the PMDG B737-800.
PG enabled; details set to medium; AI traffic and real-world weather active.
The flight was reasonably smooth, though the Level of Detail (LOD) for certain elements remains puzzling.
The arrival airport shown in the photo is LFMN (Nice)—a third-party add-on—and the resolution is good, except for the ground textures, which appear noticeably blurry.
In any case, version .35 marks a general visual improvement over .34, though I believe there is still room for further refinement.
Many aircraft and scenery add-ons remain poorly optimized, causing stuttering and slowdowns.
The PMDG 737 is certainly one of the best aircraft to fly in terms of smoothness and precision, even if the external view of the fuselage isn’t exactly high-resolution; as you zoom out, the red beacon on top and other details quickly disappear.
A bit more flying in the PMDG 737-800. Performance generally good in and out of 3rd party airports. Blurry ground textures quite problematic although they tend to be far out enough that the runway does always load before I land on it. It probably helps however that I have absolutely everything in the graphics menu turned off and PG is also off - my internet connection just can’t cope with that
Strangely, in previous 2024 builds, LOD was much better in the cockpit than it was in external views. But on this build, I found that if I’m on approach and textures aren’t loading much more than 1 mile in front of me, I can move to drone camera and suddenly everything is loaded to a range more like 3-4 miles. This stays loaded when I go back into the cockpit
Stability has been reasonable however I have had a CTD on final approach to inibuilds Leeds and also got a CTD when ending my last flight at Rhodes
I was very disapointed with FPS, they have drop even more than 1.7.34.
I went do FS-App settings, pressed Terminate, Repair, Reset.
I got back to previous FPS.
Give it a try.
The update is running a lot better than the previous version. Thank you for all the hard work you guys are doing with improvements. My only complaint is the visuals could be a lot better on psvr2 ps5. The blurriness on the headset is inconsistent, depending on the area that you are flying in but still happening everywhere. I’ve played red matter 2 after playing your game and the visuals are crystal clear/perfect so I know the headset is capable of providing a better experience. I look forward to any improvements you guys can make.
Depends on how badly its broken. Repair would be like doing a repair re-install of Office. All your user data is left intact. A reset will remove user data, but how that translates to MSFS I don’t know. Even if it removed your MSFS user profile, that should get pulled down again from the cloud anyway, in some form or other.
Excellent very smooth flight no stutters EGJJ-EHAM with Just Flight F28 4000.
This is another very well optimised aircraft - stopped using it when SU4 beta broke it (wouldn’t launch) and now has Simbrief integration with the UNS-1.
Difficult to say whether this is as good or better than SU4 - I’d say that some of the LOD around EHAM was better and with the F28 I got a sufficiently good TLOD radius but a bit of blurring of terrain when panning once or twice. Experience was very smooth - better than SU4, especially on ramp. There was minimal blurring of RW27 on approach and the city looked good. This one gets 8/10. Need to try the PMDG 737 next when I get a chance…
As made evident by several posts above and elsewhere on these threads, it’s not a universally applicable issue - so it’s very possible they weren’t able to replicate it. Hard to fix what can’t be reproduced.
