[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 5 Feedback (PC/Xbox/PS5)

First impressions on PS5 are very poor. Can be extremely jerky with sometimes constant hitching and pauses depending on aircraft making it unplayable.

Boeing 747 that came with game instantly shows ‘Memory resources are getting low, disabling avionics… ‘. Cockpit loads in ultra low poly and when finally displayed no avionics on screens for some time (knowing airspeed and altitude is overrated anyway…). Stuttering and long pauses make it virtually unplayable. This happens at every airport i tested. Previously it was not brilliant but at least playable, but this update is a massive step backwards.

As per issue raised in other threads, the flickering in VRR is still present and sometimes headache indusing. It seems to effect certain TV’s such as samsung, and only present in this game with no other games ever having this issue. Please add a toggle to disable VRR in game so we do not have to keep going in to system level settings to disable VRR everytime we play MSFS2024. This game should come with epilepsy warning!

Overall I feel very disheartened by this games performance given how long it has been out. It feels like a pre release game still in development, a reading comments from XBOX owners about ongoing issues never fixed, I dont have a lot of hope for the future on PS5.

Sorry for depressing post. I never expected this game to look brilliant or fully featured on a console, but I had hoped it was at least playable so i could enjoy flying, but instead its nothing but continuous frustrarion and issues :frowning:

My experience on base model PS5 has been stellar. Flights in all kinds of aircraft. Way fewer WASM crashes. I see what I could maybe call some slight stuttering when on the ground at large airports (e.g., KDFW, KMIA) but overall I’ve had an absolute blast with both the default aircraft and the new FlightFX add ones. Wish I could highlight what I’m doing differently. I pulled back graphics settings to low which honestly still looks amazing. The biggest difference for me early on was running a wired Internet connection. Something about streaming and bandwidth  really bummed to see so many people having a poor experience. SU5, (from my personal experience only), definitely felt like an improvement. Now I’m looking forward to AAU4!

I was in the SU5 beta, and the last week of the beta was glorious. Now I’m getting 30-40 fps with stutters everywhere and CTDs after two hours of flight. Why is there such a difference? I may have to reinstall 2020. This is unplayable for me,

Fired up this game on my PS5 pro last night to sit back, relax and enjoy a career mode passenger airline flight with my 737. Memory error came up again. No matter what the avionics simply remained blank and I could not take off. A restart of my system did nothing. I just couldn’t play the mission, so I shut it off.

I’m done with the game until there’s a hotfix. As of now, I do feel scammed.

I was part of the SU5 beta and we tested up through 1.7.24.0, but the released version is 1.7.27.0 so obviously includes some items we did not have an opportunity to test. Most of my testing was very successful and I found responses to Beta bug reports to be reasonably rapid, and many times were met with solutions in a following version. Unfortunately, my experience with the final version has been less than stellar. I have a mid-range PC and have used MSFS 2020 and 2024 since day 1.

During walkaround, I can’t get chocks, pitot cover, static port, or engine covers removed. I am on PC and have been using my Xbox controller successfully for months, but after SU5 release this seems non-functional. I removed Flow Pro (the latest update) in case this was causing the issue, but walkaround still didn’t work. Attempts with multiple stock aircraft (including the Cessna 172 Basic), pointing at chocks, pitot cover, static port, and engine covers causes them to be identified (in text) but they never highlight in blue or allow the controller A button to remove them.

Another pilot suggested opening Dev mode, then use the Airplane options to manually toggle off these items. They said the next flight the walkaround would work correctly. I discovered that enabling Dev mode shows the menus, but they do not respond to my mouse clicks.

Next, I cleared the Community folder with no improvement, so I performed an uninstall/reinstall. The walkaround features and Dev mode menus are still not working. This was tested with no files in my Community/Community2024, Official2020, or Official2024 folders.

I also found my settings do not always persist. Sometimes setting are altered from one start to another and I have a ghost control profile (Turtle Beach Rudders) which appeared only after SU5 release (1.7.27.0) and will not stay disabled.

Please Asobo, pay attention to your users, many of whom have posted in this lengthy thread.

Long time, but frustrated, sim pilot.

I am curious how many of you who are having troubles on PC have tested with PG turned off.

For me, everything runs much smoother, and the scenery is drawn out to the horizon, with absolutely no terrain, building, tree popping, melting.

I understand some people cannot live without PG, but just for testing purposes, does turning off PG fix some of the issues for you PC players?

Another flight in the books as of last night. KELM to third party KBUF with third party BUF scenery. Vision Jet/PCL VR/BATC.

Great flight. No issues. Clouds still looked better to me. Ground terrain looks great to me. Nothing to complain about other than the huge wait screen and VR position reset going back to VR from the wait screen.

I made one small change. On ground tlod/olod to 60/150 from 100/150. Still linear increase/decrease from 60/150 ground to 400/50 above FL150.

Dynamic settings off. No FPS limits. No FPS targets. Clouds ultra. Water high. pre-cache high. Pretty sure every other setting is medium or lower.

Just tried out Su5 on xbox x for first time after being away for a few days. Only a short haul flight in the inibuilds a340, from Marseille to Heathrow. It was a great flight until coming into land and a Ryan air came from behind me, landing on the same runway, I started getting slight stutters but nothing major. Heathrow wasn’t looking too good with planes flashing in and out of existence.

SU4 (XBOX) - there was hope after all this time, ran well… yes there were things missing and a few tweaks required, but all in all… progress.

SU5 (XBOX) - “Memory Resources Low” plane completely un-flyable, avionics not working, poor graphics loading even when set to low and all settings including photogrammetry turned off… can’t even get out of the gate.

Complete disappointment.

I’ve seen several comments with the same basic ilk, that the different platforms should get a different version of FS that maximizes the strenghts of the individual platforms. Completely agree. I think if they had a core team for each of the different platforms who intimately know their platform and could write, adjust, and tweak accordingly, there would be a lot less frustration. I know there would want to be a strong push for transferability (missions, career, planes, etc), but I think there could be a much better outcome than what I’m seeing from a lot of legitimately frustrated users/ CUSTOMERS (emphasized on purpose because folks have paid good money for this).

I struggle to find the improvements with SU5. Yes, the clouds/weather look slightly better (maybe up to 20% better in some cases) but the PG looks worse by a little or a great deal everywhere I check. There are more blurry ground places both in and out of PG areas. Runways are just barely sharp as I approach them. Neither the black lines in water nor the orientation of ships was fixed even though the release notes claim they were as far as I can tell. Phoenix is still missing and stutters and pauses still happen in various places like Chicago for just one example.

Im on XBoxX btw and I fly default C172 G1000 and also default C152.

Also - it seems to me that some peoples troubles (or part of their troubles) may be related to Asobo changing the controls again and the fact that controls are stored in your cloud profile. If there are conflicts, the only solution is to delete that profile and completely start the game over as if you’ve never played it.

PS5 standard - ended up memory crash then a corrupted save due to the memory crash.

PS5 pro - Memory crash most aircraft unless you blast everything low then there is a chance you can get away with it.

See this thread guys - Jorg is on it - says 20,000,000 players on MSFS. Don’t know if that’s 2020 or 2024 or both.
But this is also about the sim partnering with NSW fire fighting service

Lol 20 miljon ”players”, that I don’t believe for a second.

Another CTD. 2020 here I come.

Mmmm, I would not have released Australia until things settled down a bit. I understand that Microsoft has plans, but this is harsh for PS5 users.

Why? It’s pretty easy to try msfs on game pass. Then you just count everyone who did. Active users is another story.

On the other hand, I would hold off on releasing PMDG OC3 updates until the corresponding PMDG updates are available on the Marketplace as well. Right now, Marketplace users are at a disadvantage, which creates an uneven experience between platforms.
