[Polls] World Update 20: Japan

Certainly not complaining and if this is the only country in Asia they have PG data then it is what it is. However wouldn’t mind to see at least better versions of South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore (WSSS handcrafted please).

I’m slightly confused in 2024. Is it streamed and so I need to do nothing? or do I need to “download” it in market place because I can see it there?

Yes, it’s streamed. You don’t have to download it, you can.

Thank you

As others have noted, it looks like the 3 landing challenges, 1 bush trip and 1 spotlight event are not included in 2024. I’m not seeing them within the Activities area, nor within the World Update 20: Japan item in My Library (11 items in total).

I’m also not seeing the 1 low altitude challenge nor 1 rally race challenge.

I do see the 3 discovery flights within the Activities area and also as 3 of the 11 items in My Library.

Raibow bridge illumination is missing on MSFS2024

We had it prior to this update. Tokyo toker illumination is also missing, it’s showing here because I activated the “tokyo enhanced” addon to see if MAYBE the illumination was from that mod (wich I disabled before to test the WU20) but no.

On 2020 it seems that the illumination works, here is a screenshot from a friend:

Hi folks,

Following up on this. I got clarificaiton from the dev team about what content is included with WU20 for MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024.

MSFS (2020)

  • Three Landing Challenges (Rishiri, Nagasaki, and Sado)
  • One Bush Trip (Mount Fuji to Mount Yōtei)

MSFS 2024

  • Four Landing Challenges (same as above plus Chiba). These can be found by going to Activities → Precision Landing Challenges.
  • The Mount Fuji to Mount Yōtei Bush Trip is not available in MSFS 2024

Our apologies for the confusion in the announcement post.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Tokyo photogrammatry is now broke on this update for me, using FS2020. Textures are stretched down the vertical faces of any object.

Thank you for taking the time to look into and clarify this for us.

Are you in Japan, and if so, are you big in Japan?

I am not currently in Japan, but I can confirm that when I did visit (back in 2018), I was indeed big in Japan. :joy:

MSFS getting ready for the Sony release giving Japan a touch up, well done.

I also hope the premium delux aircraft are also touched up before Dec

I wonder if the no lights on PG buildings bug is because they are updating the lighting those buildings show, has never been good really.

Sado airport is not shown on world map in 2020

Is this supposed to automatically update for 2024? I dont have any of the new updates available or showing up.

This World Update broke photogrammetry in many areas all over the world.

Can you please at least share the pln files for the various legs of the bush trip?

Completely agree, South Korea is in a miserable state with lots of “harlequin diamond” patterns on the ground at airports in FS2020.

I have to say, I was rather disappointed with the first thing I tried, the Kyoto discovery flight. Although some of the Kyoto photogrammetry is pretty good, there are some shockingly bad seams right across it. I appreciate there are limitations in the underlying imagery from Bing, but if you’re going to amend an area by hand, then either do some work blending across these lines, or choose a different area to showcase. Kyoto has some areas where motorways just snap off in mid air or change thickness across the seams, on top of hugely obvious colour differences.

Tokyo looked absolutely magnificent though.

You have to “buy” them first in marketplace

Yea, most game developers do it though. It is very common. Not a fan

Edit: Well I feel a mite foolish. I hadn’t restarted the sim and I was flying around Sapporo using the old data. Good news is that it the new PG is incredible. Really impressive work. Took a few minutes for all the LOD levels to settle but once they did, the Discovery Flight is a really delightful little showcase of what’s they’ve done.

Certain times of day do seem to give the building a bit of an eerie green hue though…

And please Asobo, Bush Trips in 2024, it’s a travesty this awesome feature isn’t in yet.
