Some quick feedback on the bespoke Bathurst airport (YBTH):
No pics, but the same comments as my previous post in this topic regarding the arrivals & departures displays in the terminals applies here too.
There is a LOD issue with the displays, in that the text disappears when one moves away from them:
Again, customization of each airport, rather than using a set of stock images for all bespoke WU airports would be appreciated. Here, for example, are four advertising displays:
It would be more immersive if these could have been customized to reflect the local environment. For example, there is a POI 5 miles away - The Bathurst Mount Panorama Racing Circuit - as well as the Bathurst Rail Museum, the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum and National Racing Museum in town. Could not Microsoft have approached the business and museums for permission to use some promotional pictures? Museums are generally very keen for free publicity & are happy to provide stock photos! (Then again, maybe Microsoft did & all four declined the request).
This parking spot appears to permit aircraft to park that are way too large for its location (note the wing in relation to the two light poles). I’m not sure an aircraft of this size could actually land / take off at this airport in real life:
It also causes the aircraft to overlap the adjacent parking spots that the user might spawn it at:
Overall, this is not a bad rendition of the airport, but it is the attention to minor details that transform an ordinary airport into a great airport! ![]()
The Bathurst Mount Panorama Racing Circuit, is, IMO, not particularly well rendered. The ground textures are of low quality, as are the stands & quite a few buildings on th site are not modelled at all:
For comparison, one can view a number of photographs of the real site at Shutterstock.
Most buildings on the site appear to be autogen:
and the Rydges Mount Panorama hotel is as basic as you can get (look at the “windows”):
I would classify this as an “FSX-quality” POI.
