[Polls] World Update XVIII: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

I assume it’s not just as simple as reading the current Bing data and showing it in the sim. There must be a complex process to clean-up the data and what have you before it can be used in FS.

It would be interesting to know how long it takes from capturing images for Bing to them appearing on maps, never mind, into the game -looking at where I live the answer is ages….

new satelite imagery is way to greenish:
Zugspitze: (even the parts that are not in imagery shadow)

yes that‘s true for sure and i don‘t expect data from today or yesterday. but i am struggling to believe that this is the best and newest data they can get. and this is the base for msfs24?

edit: i know that we get those updates dor free and i am appreciating that! it‘s just the disappointment because i think it could be better…

I bet it will never be fixed. Typical Gaya… i would excuse such failures at release, but other devs would provide fixes pretty quickly, i bet we will se this error still in FS24, knowing Gaya

Turn on PG on bing and you will probably see the same as in MSFS. Just the satellite image is newer than the PG Data…

The last several world and city updates have been great, so I had high hopes for this one.
Not sure if there could be some temporary server issue going on, but I did flights in Zurich, Bern, and Linz yesterday and today.
Zurich had some decent photogrammetry, but I did see some patches that were flattened.
Bern and Linz I saw very little area where it wasn’t flat.
The flat areas all look like they should have PG.

I had deleted and recreated my cache after installing the updates and also restarted the sim.

I made these KML files for the update XVIII and included ones of update VI I made 3 years ago

Just make the sun shine on the slope, and all greens and stuff comes back.
This is some strange ”in the shadows” bug or meant to be, idk, but its not new, its alwats been like this in steep valleys. Looks very strange.
But rotate the sun and all is well

you’re right… :frowning:

i was flying around the swiss alps (region bernese mountains and central switzerland) for a couple of hours now and there are soooooo many mountain slopes in dark green with no tress and no real textures. i assume there must be a processing error on Asobo/MS side. they mostly face a northerly direction and no change of daytime nor date/season helps to solve the problem.

Hello @all! I just made a helicopter flight to Bern (Switzerland). Unfortunaly there is no photogrammetry and because of that no 3D-Buildings exept the ones that were made handcraftet. Do you have this flat environment too?

Another one in Germany… Hardly ever fly there, big stuttering an flat area. Not my cup of tea. Africa, South America next time?

Hello @Maxuss1579,

World Update 19 will be Brazil.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Hi Hester40MT. It was caused by my Switzerland mesh. Deinstalled it and it’s fine now!

Hi @TillableGrain15, with regard to your comment:

I agree. Here are a few screenshots to illustrate your point:

Interlaken also had the snow problem, but this is caused by the known Meteoblue issue. Changing from Live Weather to a preset gets rid of it, making the slope issue much more noticeable:

It’s a really poor update and even more of a kick in teeth as it was supposed to be a little preview of how things will look in MSFS 2024.

Extremely disappointing.

I am experiencing severe browning/yellowing and over colorization of areas
around photogrammetry. Certain squares are satellite picture just look so off color. Zurich looks like it hasn’t rained in several months. Any idea of the cause of this?

if this is a preview, then it show me stay in 2020
but some parts look great now,but only if the servers can handle the traffic, yesterday evening it was a blury mess for me,to many online,i think

The solid-green color replacing all textures and trees seem to concern only some North mountain faces usually in the shade in aerial photography, independently of light shading in MSFS.

Below a pretty striking example of the North slope of the Männlichen, between Lautenbrunnen and Grindelwald, taken yesterday with full sun. Not a specially steep slope on shady one. One among many others… :sleepy:

Well, i can’t really see it from the screenshots you’ve posted, but mismatching of terrain colors has been there since the very first year. We’ve been told this has to do with satelite pictures taken on different times, in different seasons, and the ai is trying to match up the grounds, not the soil color, to stitch up the maps…

here’s an early, rather extreme example of the first year of flightsim2020:

And yes, around photogrammetry area’s it stands out quite a lot. Unless you are a great programmer/photoshopper, there’s not much more a user can do about it…
