Poor Graphics on the 4090

My personal preference is 4K. The sim does look glorious in 4K and your 4090 will be a very happy GPU at that resolution. I’ve got a Samsung 32 inch 4K monitor and its great. I’d probably like something bigger at some point. There’s some really nice looking 42 inch 4K monitors out there. Plenty of simmers go for even bigger and just use TV’s.

I recommend you’ll definitely want to see an ultrawide monitor and a 4k monitor somewhere like a Best Buy before buying anything. Many 4k TV’s come with higher refresh rates and gaming features at a very reasonable price point.

You absolutely need to move up to something better than 1080p with the PC you have.

Ultrawide Monitors

Edit: and by all means whatever you purchase have it include HDR10. Practically all monitors in this category will include it and it will add to the immersion. Simmers don’t know what they are missing without MSFS 2020 in 5k/4k HDR high definition!

Another monitor is on the cards, but my concern is there is an issue else where causing bad fps and would a new monitor help? this screenshot ive just taken…7fps! its become unplayable.

Or triples would be my vote.

I’m wondering if your issue is related to mine. I suspect the sim isn’t really using your 4090.

Ok, thanks for that. So are we looking at a sim issue then? Rather than system issue?

Checked again this morning on the sim and still getting 7-13fps.

Post a screenshot with FPS counter from devmode, that will give us a clearer picture…

screenshots in dev mode FBW (EGKK) and GA (EGKK)

You need to enable FPS counter

This one…

I have both: 32:9 1440p. It’s a bit more of a strain on the CPU (lowered the LOD settings to remain GPU limited), but the 4090 can cope with the rest easily. No matter what processor you have, it will always be the bottleneck with a 4090.

Smooth. The seemless transition between the monitors is great.

The fps counter bottom right, ill do the other counter when im next at the PC

It’s better to use the FPS counter provided by the sim.

screenshots with dev counter. 5th image is render scaling back too 100 and final two discovery flight.

Limited by rdrthread. I think that means reader thread. Is your hard drive slow or really full?

Its 1tb and i have 72gb free. Its for msfs only

That’s not much free space for a hard drive, especially a solid state drive.

Very good chance that’s your problem.

I think it’s good to limit SSDs or NVMe drives to less than 70% capacity.

But rdr thread might also mean render thread, not sure. I think I’ve seen it described as reader thread elsewhere though.

Ok, well i’ll go through the drive and see if i can remove anything, but its all msfs stuff.
