I have the same issue as you, weird, because if you set to low settings, then back to high or ultra, it’s OK for a while, then after several minutes the FPS tanks again… only over central park tree’s, once back over the city the FPS is around 50 again, even at Ultra… seems like another bug.

Hey everyone, glad this topic sparked some good discussion.
Thought I’d let everyone know what I did.
I ended up building another PC with a M.2 SSD, i9 10900k CPU and moved my 3080 GPU into this PC along with faster RAM. Runs well on ULTRA at about 50 to 55 FPS over fairly dense scenery at about 2000ft AGL. FPS tops out at about 65 to 70 up in the flight levels.
Depending on the motherboard you had in your old system you could potentially saved yourself quite some money by upgrading the 3900X to a 5800X (B450 motherboards will run that chip with a BIOS update) for the same performance.

I am NOT saying that the single threaded main thread is not an issue. I am saying there will be massive improvement by cleaning out the “Junk”, from your PC. Even a new PC is full of junk and poorly optimized. I d this for a living and have yet to see a PC ( New or used), not in need of a serious going over software wise So clean up…or don’t. If you don’t know how…try Youtube.
I have a 3950x , 2080ti 32gb ram , and I cannot get passed 23 fps, I have tried the lasso tool, nothing, everything is running the lastest drivers and I am still have issues, anyone else can chime in?

I can’t believe all the junk put on computers. And Windows keeps bugging me about “customizing my experience.”
Start by uninstalling all the Bloatware ( yes candy crush)…then move on to stopping a large amount of telemetry programs ( Try “spybot antibeacon) Use Ccleaner daily along with Revo uninstaller’s tool, " Junk”, removal. Then ensure you ssd’s are optimized regularly…get rid of programs you don’t use or don’t recognize…the list goes on and on. Search Youtube for what I have referred to…there are tons of “clean-up”, how to’s.
Unless your PC is an absolute potato, this is a waste of time, any improvement ( if any ) would be negligible.
Turning of windows/xbox game bar is the only thing I’ve found to make any difference in terms of “cleanin up”.
How much RAM and RAN speed did you install?

Exactly the same issue since world update III, I have Intel I9 7900X @ 4,5 ghz (oc for all cores - watercooled) - 64Gb RAM - M2 PCIE3 1to - RTX 3090 Asus TUF - Before the update, I Have 45-60 FPS (often 55 FPS) over the world (cities and countrysides). Now, in few times I have 55 FPS but always the framerate dramaticaly drops under 30 FPS even 18FPS. The FS2020 is became unplayable for this time being.
Do a search for this topic… many people are reporting success with a BIOS update; others are reporting issues. The 500 series mainboards will work without question for the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.

So of course they would have to research what is possible/available for their motherboard.
I’m happily running a 5800X on my B450 mITX board, not a single issue.
I don’t understand how a multi-billion dollar company can offer a pig game! and poorly optimized like that.
A Microsoft product !! that runs on the microsoft system !! and is full of downtime issues to downlod for the flight experience.
I have a more powerful processor than my video card (10700k all 5.1 colors and a super gtx1660) and even it says that I am being limited by the main limit, and even with the preset graphics set below I can’t get more than 20 fps for him to say that I am limited to the mainthred.
from what I understand, this simulator has the same problem as everyone else! overloads 1 core generating a violet bottleneck, which is why even a 3090 (without the current bug) has a hard time achieving higher frame rates.
Seriously Asobo, I know you are working so hard, but will it be possible to stop launching perfumes for now ??? and focus on the problems to be solved ?? we don’t want world updates now, because we can’t even have a fluid game experience, bad aircraft are no longer enough …
my fear is that this project will have the same fate as fsx, be abandoned by micerosoft and play the moths.

I think the failures may have more to do with ease of BIOS update - and completely understanding how to do it correctly - than anything else. Easy to turn a mobo into an expensive Frisbee if you do it wrong…
The mainthread is supervising the workload of all the other threads.
It assigns every process that the other threads run and waits for
those threads to report back with a “Task Completed” or with results.
It cannot run any faster than its own tasks and the tasks
of all the other threads run.
So, utilization below 100% is likely.
