I purchased a 24x12” shelf from Home Depot and bought a pair of deep throated F clamps. I have the clamps on the top of the shelf and the bottom of the desk.
Now, I am using the suction cup on the shelf. I may need a longer shelf, but this is a great temporary solution that is easy to put on and take off. Considering screwing it down vs the suction, but will wait and see.
