I’ve had an issue that I’ve needed help with for months and I just managed to submit a post here. I tried first over on Avsim mostly because it is an enormous PAIN and a frustrating proposition to “earn” trust so I can get help with a product I paid money for. It really shouldn’t be this difficult to use a support forum.
I’m not here to socialize, collect badges and likes, I just want my problem solved.
Frustrating.
The reason (if i remember correctly) you need to wait a bit before posting a topic is to prevent spamming from new users.
More info here:
And with the badges, this is how Discourse (the forum provider) is out of the box and is a way to welcome new users. You can disable this by going to Preferences > Interface > “Skip new user onboarding tips and badges”
Stick to AVSIM. A much friendlier bunch over there and I’ve got much more help and far less aggro than I’ve got from here. There are always plenty of us that help each other out over there and I would recommend it to anyone. I’ve been a regular user and contributor there for over 20 years and have found it the best source of info anywhere.
I may be missing something but the MSFS2020 part of the forum is very keen to say “PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO POST QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION ITEMS HERE” only allowing “Tips and tricks”, which seems to make it pretty useless.
That’s on a sub forum titled “Tips and Tricks” and is seperate from the Avsim general MSFS forum where you can ask questions.
To be fair…in my experience I have seen some bullying on the Avsim forums over the years (many years), there are some exclusive attitudes over there. Personally I’d rather come here and search for an answer. Most questions I have have been addressed previously.
