I have MSFS Steam, and I can’t sign into any microsoft accounts (I’ve asked for support on the MS forums and nobody has responded with anything which has fixed the issue)
Is there any way I’ll be able to play MSFS? I get stuck at the “press any key to start” window every time I launch the sim.
Welcomeon the forum!
First check that you are logged in with the correct account in windows and the MS Store, even if you never use it.
And at this site i’ve found that just pressing the alt + enter key can log you in. Worth a shot!

Set aside the sim for a moment. Try to verify your account status first by logging into XBox Live:
What happens when you try to login? That may be indicative.
I can sign into this website, but not into microsoft on my pc
Okay, so that’s one piece. That’s the same account you use in the Sim.
You said you’re on the Steam version, so you shouldn’t need to sign into the MS App Store. What happens when you launch the sim from Steam? It should ask you to login using your XBox account before continuing.
It doesn’t ask for my xbox account when I log in, just straight to “press any key to start”.
Try installing this if it isn’t already on your PC:
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/xbox-app-for-windows-10
Then login on that. Launch the sim. Let’s see what happens next.

I’m happy to go into discord voice chat if needed to sort out the problem
I’d love to get on Discord Voice, but still at the RL job, helping out on the side!
You said you tried logging into MS App Store? Did you use your XBox account - same one as we just tried? Can you get the app from there?
Thanks for helping me whilst you’re working
I can’t log onto the MS App store on any microsoft account on any user on my pc (my issue is in more detail at Redirecting )
Without logging onto the MS app store I can’t install Xbox
No worries!
Also, I checked that error code you got - can you run Windows Operating System Update checker and make sure you have no outstanding Windows Updates to install and process? That seems to be pointing to that. If we can fix that and get you into Windows Store, we might be able to make some progress.
I can’t check for updates, but using an ISO I was able to update to 21H1
What’s happening when you check for OS updates?

Did you change your account email address?

Ok. We’re heading towards uncharted territory for me, but I’ve asked around and a couple of things to try around getting updates to work. You may have already tried some of these so feel free to bypass the ones already attempted:
Use Windows Update Troubleshooter:
- Press the Win key, search for Troubleshoot settings, and press Enter
- Click Additional troubleshooters
- Find and select Windows Update
- Click the Run the troubleshooter button
- Follow the wizard steps and allow Windows to apply any fixes
Use Windows Update Diagnostic
- Sign in to Windows 10 using an admin account
- Download Windows Update Diagnostic from the official website
- Start the app and select Windows Update
- Click Next and follow the step-by-step instructions
- Launch the app again and choose Windows Network Diagnostics
- Click Next and follow the remaining steps
- Restart your computer

I’m going to try and see what @xBufferzz 's advice does
EDIT: I did find a different email, but changing it didn’t fix the issue
check if windows10 is activated
Still trying to find a solution. It’s either get Updates working or get you somehow onto MS App Store to pull down the XBox app.
What do you have installed now on the PC that’s XBox related? Maybe it’s enough to get that to authenticate you? Type XBox in the Windows Search on the taskbar, does it return an app you can open?
