PRO-ATC/SR - Professional Air Traffic Control is out

I got a refund from Paypal. Maybe in a few months and when they fix the bugs I’ll buy it again.

Having tried a few ATC alternatives with free trials (which did not go well and I uninstalled them) and watching the entire stream from Q8pilot (best English language vid so far) has me leaning towards maybe giving this a try next week. The devs are active in the forums and it seems like issues are being figured out. I may regret it, but having tried the alternatives (and been disappointed) this still seems to check all the boxes in what I’m looking for…

I experienced the bugs at first but the new updates fixed that. I used ProATC-X before in FSX and loved it. Completely in love with it again.

Audio is not as perfect as Azure/MSFS but it’s the best out there from what I’ve searched the last year on youtube. Procedures run great, the link with simbrief is a very nice new feature. From my user experience it’s a great addon to flying when you’re not into VATSIM/IVAO all the time (or hardly ever at all, as I am).

I would have liked to buy PRO-ATC/SR if VR was supported. So, for me : No VR , No go.

Keeping this thread active for those still interested in this.

Latest Q8Pilot livestream today features another interesting demo of Pro-ATC SR and he raves about it compared to “other” ATC solutions. I’ll purchase in the next few days as I’ve grown tired of the same default msfs ATC voices (as good as they are) and behavior. I like the live regional “chatter” as well in pro-atc. The only bummer I can see is that makerwys won’t work with the dozens of Marketplace airports I own (purchased back when I was on xbox so no choice).

I’ll be interested in your thoughts/review.

So what does this product offer over Pilot2ATC? P2 has simbrief integration, Navigraph and of course the ATC chatter solutions, which are really great.

Just asking as always looking to improve these things if something better comes out.

Has anyone here got both?

I have both. I lean towards pro atc for 3 reasons:

  1. Voices and ‘radio feel’. P2ATC sounds just too ‘clean’. Immersion thing.

  2. Pro atc has a chance to give you a holding. A feature currently not present in P2ATC.

3.AI interaction. Pro atc interacts more with Ai then P2ATC.

Thanks for the detail, on that account it sounds pretty good - especially that it interacts with AI traffic too.

I will check it out.

Does the holding dependent on the traffic? More traffic, more Holds? And How does the direct waypoint shortcut feature work? ( not Pilot requested, but auto given from atc)

The next update is due in the very near future, this will fix any further problems with AIRAC installation. The SimBrief import system is also changing and will use your “user number” instead of your “username”. This will alleviate any further problems. Please leave a message below if you do not know where to find your SB user number. Once this update is released, the team will be moving on to improve and enhance your ATC experience within the simulator.

We will also shortly be welcoming another (real UK) Air Traffic Controller to the team, more details to follow. Below is a statement from said ATCo, excited yet? You should be.

All we need now is more randomness, and it would be perfect. Different step climbs (being stopped occasionally at lower altitudes for traffic etc), being taken off the SID/STAR every now and then and put on headings for a bit before being cleared back onto the route. Speed restrictions!!! These happen a lot. Different speeds on approach every now and then 210 on base, then 180, then 160 till 4DME. Not always, but mostly. I found, with Radar Contact, that after a while I could guess exactly what was coming next (correctly 95% of the time). If you start to predict what is happening, you stop listening and concentrating. There is nothing like suddenly being put in a hold or assigned a new approach/runway to get the adrenaline pumping, and it happens all the time in the real world! That would get the forums chatting!!!

What’s the situation with different voices being used in the same sentence? Nothing is more immersion breaking than that. :frowning:

I was watching a video on youtube but at the moment approach started talking i had to quit instantly. Some voices are usable but some of that stuff is just pain inducing.

:point_up_2: This is probably the biggest problem I’ve noticed in all of the demo/streams but doesn’t seem to be mentioned as an “issue”. Unless I misread the auto-English translation in one of @JayDee6281 early videos I thought he’d found a temp. workaround to avoid the mixing of voices, but I could be wrong. In any case, that’s one reason I’ve held back a bit before purchase but it looks like devs are active in the forums and with updates.

That’s a good sign… I will wait and see if they actually do much. This team has a reputation of being MIA.

I dunno. I bought this and it works pretty good when I get get a proper import. But both the simbrief import and regular import are now causing it to just hang the program though.

Exactly, the different voices in a sentence thing is beyond me. Also from watching youtube videos, is it true that only 4 airliners are supported? So you cant use this with any other aircraft?

Yeah, I would like to know what that’s about… I fly the FBW A320.

Not true.

There is some kind of checklist support for serveral aircraft (pmdg, fenix), maybe you mean that? I dont use that.

If you mean airline names, there is a a long list of names which you can choose.

I didnt mean that. Ive heard a youtuber saying that you can only use pro-atc with 4 aircraft; pmdg b737-600/700, fenix 320 and the maddog. What if i wanted to use it with TBM or Kodiak? Will it work.
