PropAirFlight Shark 600

Didn’t see a topic about this one.

Just released for 5 euros.

It works fine in 2024, I just put the folder in my community folder and works fine.

It is quite a good aircraft and for 5 euros I think it is a bargain. The model is fine, not stellar as well as textures and sounds. AP works but is very limited, several modes are inop, curiously no vertical modes are working so no VS, IAS or VNAV. It does feature a Dynon Skyview avionics but is severely limited, about 10% of the functionality is implemented.

It flies nicely, I think the flight model is fine didn’t test fuel consumption and range.

Again for $5 is a Bargain, dev is new so I don’t know if they plan to keep updating this or not.

Some details on this plane:

Since it was only £5 plus tax, which for some reason didn’t come through on my email receipt, I thought I would give it a go.

The model seems very nice.

In the walkaround you can clip right through the wings, and tail.

External textures seem very well done, unless you get really close.

The canopy has some weird flickering on it. I’m using 2024 so that may be an artifact of that.

Internal texturing is quite nice as well, though flying at night could be annoying as it has those canopy reflections.

I couldn’t get this QR code to work though.

It has some weird quirks with the cameras. For example, if I go to one of the outside camera views, then back to the cockpit, my view has changed. Sometimes I am zoomed in to the panel, other times I’m looking down at the floor, but seems inconsistent in this. It may be something I am doing.

GPS is pretty bare bones as mentioned already. There are a lot of buttons beneath it, but only two of them appear to work. Actually scratch that, it’s only one, the Menu button.

There aren’t many options here.

Changing the map layers options from anything other than the default will put you into an epileptic seizure.

Turning on Terrain Alert makes the ground on the moving map flash. Turning off Topog makes the entire screen flash even faster.

This button highlights but doesn’t appear to do anything.

COM radio appears to work okay.

AP only seems to do HDG, and ALT. So you can set an altitude, and it will capture it, but you can’t use the VS button as it is INOP, like the majority of the others.

It has a Brake lever, next to the prop, and power lever, marked Gas here.

It’s not the Parking Brake though as that pops out from the centre pedestal when engaged.

I thought it might be an air brake, but moving it into either position doesn’t seem to make any different to my airspeed, or the external model.

Smoke works.

Is pilot visible in 2024? Can you see at least flight plan on moving map? I read manual on Orbx and i see that avionincs is very very limited like you wrote.

I didn’t delve that deeply into the avionics, really because there isn’t much to delve into. It’s a shame the avionics aren’t more fleshed out. Their website says that in IRL you can choose the Garmin G3X as an option, at least it looks like a G3X, and I wish that had been an option here really.

I didn’t have all my gear setup, but I wonder if the VC buttons not working could be mitigated by driving the AP via SPAD, and external hardware. It probably still can’t switch between NAV modes though, but it would be worth a shot.

All in all I think its a £5 level plane. A bit of a pocket rocket to fly fast in.

Not so fast, the speed is in kmh!

I forgot about this one, but yes, they are.

Thank you.

I had it well over 300kph earlier. That’s not bad for such a little plane.

Oh nice one, good to know! It reminds me of the Blackshape Prime I used in XP back then…quite similar aircraft, I will have a look and…might get weak :eyes:

I’d probably judge it as a beta release, quality wise. There are a lot of INOP switches on it currently, and there’s no clue whether this will get a lot of updates or when as they are a bit of an unknown element. But for a bit over the price of a coffee, it’s worth a punt.

After finding finding the inop switches in the AP, I reached out to the developer. They will be updating it.

It does need some love. I’d like to see them offer the Garmin G3X as an option too, which I believe is in the real plane too.

AFAIK the real plane can be equipped with either the Dynon or the Garmin G3x and the recommendation is the Dynon. But if you are not going to do the whole avionics then it is just better to offer it with the WT G3x touch that is quite good.

The Shark UL for X-Plane by Aerobask has a lot better avionics with many of the funcions implemented and the difference is important but is not $5 of course.

This is an egregious mistake by the dev if they want to use this for training because the “brake” lever is actually the choke lever. And it seems it is inop in the plane.

If they add a G3X option or someone figures out a way to swap it in, I’ll buy it. I definitely agree, why fly a half-baked Dynon implementation when you can have a functional G3X?

Any word about the sounds? I’m guessing it’s going to be using stock sounds from the Extra or something for the price.

I’m also curious if Shark licensed this since their logo is in the AviationLads trailer, or if AviationLads doesn’t know how copyright works (I’m not narcing, I’m just genuinely curious if they licensed it.)

Hello guys,

I am the lead dev and the project manager at PropairFlight.

Thank you for the kind words about the product. Yes, the features are still very limited for now, but we’re not going to disappear or abandon the project. Updates will be released continuously.

The G3X option really sparked my imagination, and I’ll definitely add it to the TODO list. We’ll also be expanding the autopilot—Dynon included, of course!
Regarding the throttle/prop/“brake” lever: we’re aware that it’s actually a choke on the front seat and a brake on the rear seat—the texture just needs to be swapped accordingly.
There are still some bugs, but we’ll be working through them, and in the end, we’ll have a community-shaped, bug-free aircraft

We’ll also be improving the purchasing experience and the website, since we know it’s currently not that easy to find the products—and then find them again afterward!

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to join us on the PropairFlight Discord.

Of course, we are fully licensed and working together as official partners.

It’s great to hear that there will be some further development and support to expand on the good starting base. I have been flying it all day and really enjoying it. I look forward to expanded autopilot, instrumentation and possible G3X in the future. Is the discord the best place for any bug reports?

the avatar of the pilot sits on the propeller in MSFS2024. What could be the reason for this?
It’s a beautifully made airplane, but unfortunately the fps is significantly lower than in other airplanes.

Yes, our discord is the best place to report any bugs or just have some general discussion about the Shark!
