While you’re waiting for the Working Title G1000 NXi to arrive in the Marketplace, those of you looking for your Garmin fix can download the WT G1000 0.4.0.
Massive Correction: 0.4.0 is the stock Asobo Garmin with engine panel pages. Defects and missing features are rampant. But what works on it works, and is stable.
Install only one or the other - NXi or 0.4.0 - they will conflict as mods.
Correct. I’m using NXi and it is definitely Early Access as Matt/WT has repeatedly stated.
For folks who want stability and predictability (albeit missing the nifty new features), stick with 0.4.0 until NXi gets to a state you’re comfortable with.
It’s a toss up. The 0.4.0 is actually stock, not 0.3.7 a sI originally wrote, so it has all the warts of the stock Garmin, but when it works, it works.
Lots of stuff still not yet implemented on NXi and some basic things that are present are buggy. Definitely not ready for IFR if that’s your thing. Basic VFR, it’s somewhat there.
We’re in that weird time where things are promising but incomplete.
On an RNAV approach, do not activate APR until you are in the middle leg (FACF to FAF). Any earlier in the sequence switches the CDI to VOR or LOC and things stop guiding correctly, natch.
Shortcutting a full transition? Use HDG mode to get to the IAF, don’t use GPS. If you use the known trick of loading a full transition, then trying to short-cut it by using Direct-To to the IAF, the GPS drops the approach entirely after passing the IAF.
It’s amazing and scary how far Working Title got the G1000 to in 0.3.7, 0.4.0 is a yikes throwback.
