An update for you there. The original Logitech drivers are needed. They split the 3 components and present these to windows and then XP force sees things as normal. Now the interesting bit for G940 users, is that the manufacturer drivers might not be available for long, so grab a copy NOW. They are not tested with Win 11 but work fine, at least for me.
Sadly the rest of the new PC is a sorry story and looks like it will have to go back for something of a rebuild. 12900K with DDR5 5600 makes XP Force seem a lot more fluid, but seeing as I can not get above 1500 or more than three miles before a guaranteed CTD it is hard to give any further info as yet, although I certainly will when I can. I am going to lie down somewhere dark for a while now
Edit, three days later…
And it works a treat. Looking forward to tweaking the settings tomorrow, but it really feels good on the new machine.
@jimkeir thanks so much for the beta update. When I installed, I received this message:
Can you let me know how to resolve this? I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software, but it didn’t help. And I can’t find anywhere in the software to de-register and re-register my code.
@jimkeir I got the same message as SubsonicEmu8. I tried to renew my license, but encountered a message “If you are renewing an existing license please log in to get your discount!.” That sounds promising, but the location of the login link is not at all obvious. Could you illuminate? Thanks!
I did this the other day too and got the same carry on with copying a string to clipboard, etc but in the end just got a new licence which was cheap enough and as I was short on time, worked well for me. It was a little dysfunctional though.
I just bought a license 2 weeks ago. Sure hope I don’t have to buy another one. Nope, worked for me.
Just read this on his website.
“When a new version is released, simply download and install it in exactly the same way as you did with the original version. Please check that you are still entitled to free upgrades before you install! You can do this on the helpdesk by logging in and selecting the “Licenses” option. If you installed using the Windows Installer (MSI) package, there is no need to remove the old version first.
The plugin can check for updates both manually and automatically. If an upgrade is available it will tell you whether your free upgrade period has expired”
Despite repeated attempts to find a place to log in on the websites (both Lightroom-plugins and fsmissioneditor), I’m stumped. No help in my purchase email or the support faq either. Maybe it’s an Easter egg hunt?
Same happens here, have you guys solved it?
If I dont grab the yoke, its always going forward or vibrating and oscillating.
Any ideas? Whats that grip sensor you mentioned?
Thanks!
Electrical tape wound around the stick to cover the sensor should work. Unsure as to which stick you have, but it will be under your hand when you hold it.
I am not familiar with that particular stick - I use the Logitech G940, but if it is a force feedback stick it probably has a sensor, the idea of which is to make sure that it is only live when your hand is on the stick, or that the sensor is covered. It is something that gave rise to the symptoms you described in your last post. Now I haven’t trawled back through the entire thread and am guessing a bit here, so Google it up and see whether that sensor functionality actually exists on your stick. It certainly does on mine, hence the suggestion. Hope it helps. I will have a look myself and come back.
From what I have seen, can you confirm that this is a full force feedback stick or just something with rumbles, jitters, etc? It looks awfully lightweight for a full FFB stick. I worry that I could be hindering more than helping here…
Just came back :). No sensor here in force3dpro AFAIK. Eliminated most autocentering pressure in configuration and now it’s somewhat better.
Thanks for your help.
Hi guys. i use a microsoft force feedback 2 joystick and xpforce. on some planes (e.g. Diamond DV20) my joystick suddenly starts to shake extremely violently when I let go of the stick. this is only the case with some planes! However, this is not the case with the Robin DR400. either it’s the type of elevator, or it’s the premium planes?? I don’t know what the problem is there? can you try it on yours…? thanks!
Looks to me like you’ve got a bit of tape over the grip sensor, and that’s why the stick’s shaking wildly. This is a hardware thing, not an XPForce thing.
Controllers can add forces in many ways, not just by autocenter, and those mostly assume that you’re holding the controller and providing an opposing force. If that opposing force isn’t there, and the controller’s told to add, say, a 6lb force to the left, then it just slams on over there with no resistance whatsoever until it reaches the limit of it’s travel. That makes the sim think you’ve just wrenched the yoke to the left, which adds a strong countering force to the right, so the stick then slams on over there. Repeat until broken.
Taping over that sensor is just another way of dropping your stick on the floor from waist height over and over again. Please, please don’t do it.
