Hit the TAB key
And maybe add that (TAB) to the Voice Attack profile so you don’t have to find your keyboard in VR (also good for VR Mode enable/disable, Flaps(etc), Autopilot commands, radio,…)
Guys thanks for the answers/suggestions.
I can’t find a way to display the fps in VR. Is there one ? I use MSI Afterburner and can see the fps when using my monitor but not in VR.
150% on the SteamVr bar.
OpenXR toolkit has an FPS display option that shows in the headset. My advice is to use it to tweak your setup to what you want then don’t turn it on again as it spoils immersion.
I have a rtx 3080 and ryzen 5800. I have to run MSFS (and DCS world) at 38% SteamVR resolution. Which matches the native headset resolution of 2000 x 2040 per eye.
Then i adjust the render scaling to around 125-150% to sharpen up the image. Personally ive found better performance with this rather than super sampling in SteamVR.
Otherwise i get micro stutters / ghosting on buildings and trees and screen tearing and huge stutters with sharp and hard roll rates.
@proxlamuz what sort of fps are you targeting roughly?
Also, at 38% in SteamVR, my resolution is given for 2096x2136, not 2000 x 2040. Normally I think we should have the same here. See below.
@proxlamuz I have attempted your settings, as in 38% SteamVR resolution, and went all the way to 200% in MSFS for the sharpening: in my case, this is visibly smoother than my current settings (140% in SteamVR and 100% in MSFS sharpening), but the quality of the visuals is much much lower. I’m wondering why we differ so much.
(RTX 3080 / i7-12700K)
Im wondering the same thing. I played around yesterday again for a while. I popped on the Quest 3 and was pleased with the sharpness and visuals and performance. (Link cable x1.0 render resolution and 72hz)
Then I went back to the PSVR2 and it was a mess again. I legit dont know how the 3080 can super sample. Its way too choppy to enjoy.
I do agree with you that the 38% showing 2096x2136 is still slightly higher than the native resolution of 2000x2040. I cant get SteamVR to select 37% to match it and 36% is a lower resolution than native. I cant remember what the numbers were tho. So 38% was the best I could do.
I set SteamVR video settings - per application to a fixed throttling behavior and I have it locked at 45fps with motion smoothing enabled.
How could the Quest vs PSVR2 perform so differently.
Im contemplating getting a 4080 now and selling off my 3080. Seeing if that will make a difference. The Ryzen 7 (5800x) and 64GB of RAM I hoped would be enough to handle whatever I played.
@proxlamuz I found that turning off the Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling (in Win10 display settings) improves the fps by about 5fps, and also reduces the stuttering quite a bit. I mention it in case you didn’t know and wanted to give this a try. In my case the difference is meaningful. I found this trick in this video <here>, the guy gives other tips. For example in my case closing the PlayStation®VR2 App while flying reduces stuttering. I think it’s a good video.
So this is where I stand now:
Resolution in SteamVR app: 140% (4020x4100)
Sharpening in MSFS: 200% !
Graphic settings in MSFS: Medium
FPS: locked at 30fps.
@ResetXPDR I have given OpenXR toolkit a try as per your suggestion. But for some reasons, I’m getting very poor performance when it’s running. I don’t know why. It obviously has a large number of settings, I tried to play around with them all but for some reasons I wasn’t able to fix it. So I ended up uninstalling it. What I have done instead, is purchased (about USD3) from the Steam store an app called fpsVR. It “appears” to be doing more or less the same thing, including of course giving me the fps, but there is no impact on performance when running it.
Guys, I see some folks here talking about running their VR headset (MQ2 etc) via a “virtual desktop”. Apparently it improves performance.
Can someone tell me if this is relevant to me, a PSVR2 user, and if yes, can you explain very slowly what it is I need to do exactly ? I have downloaded something called Desktop+ from the SteamStore, is this helpful in any way ?..
Virtual Desktop is an app that allows Meta Quest and Pico 4 headsets to wirelessly stream PCVR. Your PSVR2 cannot use this app, nor can it do wireless PCVR. So, for PCVR you can really only use the Steam PSVR2 app. I hope this helps explain things for you. Cheers.
It does, thank you, appreciated.
Guys, I am a bit confused with the Reprojection options in the VR settings.
I try to play around with it and don’t seem to see a difference neither in visuals, nor in performance.
What is it supposed to do exactly, and is this available for my PSVR2 ?
That’s helpful
This is a blank function for Quest, no effect at all.
Thank you !
