PSVR2 is coming to PC!

I got rid of the stutters. I changed the steamvr resolution to 100%. I had it at 150%. Looks and plays fantastic.

Thank you for the feedback. Do you have any distortion ?
Also, how about your settings ? in your post yesterday, you said you had turned them all down. You turned them all back up I presume ?

I have a 3080 so trying to evaluate what I could get.

yes i turned them back up. I am still trying to figure it out. I am getting some distortion and micro stutters but I know I can fix them with a little tweaking. The psvr2 blows the reverb g2 away. The colors and bigger FOV is incredible

Okay.
Have you tried with the more complex aircraft like PMDG, Fenix or whatever you have that requires serious processing power ?

No . I am flying the standard Cessna 172. I only fly general aviation aircraft. I like to fly low and slow.

Do you know how the psvr compares to the varjo aero? I have waited for an oled headset for years for.my sunset flying… Psvr2 could be a good choice while waiting for the crystal super

Next a standalone MFS 2024 on PSVR 2👌

I’m using the MS store version of Flight Sim with PSVR2 on PC, once I changed the in-game option to VR, my PSVR2 headset automatically gave me that VR experience without using Steam to launch the game. Not all aircraft have been designed for VR but those I tested, including some from the market place allowed me to fly them using the Sense controllers

@MBL666 Thanks for the feedback. To be clear, you still need the SteamVR app installed yes ?

(I have ordered one of these cables from my local store, they should have it next week. Let’s see what happens).

Yes, MSFS only uses OpenXR, and PSVR only uses SteamVR’s OpenXR implementation. You will need steamVR installed to use the PSVR on PC.

Did you need to change any settings in Steam to have SteamVR use the OpenXR runtime? I’ve a default Steam installation using the PCVR2 adapter for connecting my PSVR2. In Steam I only installed the Sony PCVR2 application (SteamVR application was already preinstalled). I did not change any Steam settings as the PSVR2 worked out of the box with SteamVR games. I have MSFS 2020 from the Microsoft Store which, I believe, is not a standard SteamVR game, right? How would MSFS 2020 know to use SteamVR and how would SteamVR know to use the OpenXR runtime? Do I need to make any settings to make this work?

The honeymoon phase is over. The problem with the psvr2 is the resolution. The gauges are blurry . You have to lean forward to see them. The reverb g2 is a lot clearer. I think I will stay with my reverb g2. The colors maybe faded and fov is smaller but clarity is KING.

It’s strange because difference in resolution is not that big, 2160 x 2160 px vs 2040 x 2000 px. Is SteamVR set to native resolution?

Set up PSVR2 as per the instructions, which does require Steam VR to work.
I launched MS Flight Sim from the Game Pass app on my PC and once loaded you open the game option menu to switch on VR.
PSVR2 headset automatically gives you the VR experience.

Owning the game on Steam will give you the ability to launch it while using Steam VR rather than using the desktop and switching to VR once in the game. But it does work

Also check your PS Sense controllers work with your Bluetooth, I’ve seen a lot of people having issues and need to buy a new BT dongle to pair them to their PC

Maybe because the reverb g2 resolution was at 150% and I had to lower the resolution in psvr2 to 100% . My 3080ti could not handle the 150% for psvr2.

4090 can barely do it at 150% with 90hz. I would say 100% is supersampling territory at aprox 3800x3700 or something similar. The panels are 2000x2040 if we render at anything above 3000x3000 should be okish. You will still get aliasing and ugly edges. At 150% is more “clear” but rendering at 4000x4000 is 16MP comparing to 8MP from 4K…

I turned off the motion reproduction on steamvr and that made the game run smoother. I was able to play at 150% with some micro stutters. The clarity is compatible with the Reverb g2. My setting are high for my 3080ti that’s why I still have the micro stutters.

Ok so I got my cable and so far I think it is well worth the $60.
Where I see the value - for me - is that it is considerably easier to do circuits work as the situational awareness is of course considerably enhanced. Night flying also is extremely satisfying. Some automatisms (like pulling the carb heat in decent which comes to me naturally IRL but for some reasons not on the non-VR screen, has returned with VR, which is good).

Performance on my PC is not fantastic I would say, meaning the lower resolution is very obvious but I am able to read the instruments relatively well. I can use only the simple aircraft, more complex aircraft won’t work.

Question: how can I see the in-flight bar on the top where I can access ATC, Weather, Checklists etc ? Normally in non-VR mode I just hover my mouse toward the top of the streen to make it appear but in VR it doesn’t,

Thank you.

@BigNYCDon , when you say you play at 150%, do you mean the slider in SteamVR, or the slider in the MSFS VR settings ?

  • edit: one thing I was happy about is that I didn’t need to purchase the bluetooth dongle. My motherboard is an Asus ROG Z690E and it works just fine with it.

Same here. I don’t know what this motion smoothing (I think that’s what you mean ? in SteamVR) is supposed to do but in my case leaving it on creates horrible stuttering. Turning it off is much better here.
